Harriet the Spy (1996) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Harriet M. Welsch (Michelle Trachtenberg) is an 11-year-old-spy who dreams of being a writer. She explains her obsession with writing by saying: "I want to remember everything, I want to know everything."
In her PRIVATE notebook, she writes down her secret thoughts. Sometimes her comments are all too honest and not that nice. Harriet doesn't yet understand the power of words, but soon she learns, when all her friends become her worst enemies.
Rosie O'Donnell plays the perfect nanny. Her advice to Harriet is that while she might want to know everything, it won't do her a bit of good unless she uses her knowledge to put beauty into the world.
Harriet goes through a great learning experience where she finally realizes she should participate more in life and learns to let go of her writing obsession in order to embrace life. After all, true friends are what makes life wonderful and worth living.
This is a funky, modern story that teaches a wonderful lesson. It is about learning to forgive and being vulnerable enough to be able to say you are sorry.
A great lesson for all ages!

(More customer reviews)I first saw this trilogy in Brazil around 1992. It was in German with Portuguese Subtitle. I am so fascinated with these movies. The story, the actress... everything. Since then I've been looking for the whole trilogy on DVD. When I've found it... it's in French? Come on, let's make this Trilogy Box Set in its original German Language with English, Spanish, Portuguese and all languages Subtitles. Hurry up! The world is waiting. These movies must be seen by the whole Planet. It's a Classic and one of my favorites since I first saw them.

Working Girls (1974) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)From the description, I thought this might be one of those amusing T&A flicks from the 70's. The ones where the girls are jiggling out of their tops in all sorts of preposterous situations. The story is boring, not funny at all. Cassandra Peterson is topless, not naked as the alternative title suggests. It's definatley her, she does the same thing with her eyes that she does when accenting a punchline as the Elvira character. When you've seen this once, your not likely to sit through it again.

Playboy - Wet and Wild Live Backstage Pass (2002) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I was disappointed again with this video from Playboy. I would expect a company that has been photographing and videotaping women to produce a better product. I have been a fan of Playboy for over 20 years so I know what their track record is. This video starts out with a couple of short clips of the actual Bikini Show in Vegas - it made me want to see more, but that was it. There is not much of the actual show. The "Backstage" scenes were disappointingly average. The women removed their bikinis and the camera panned up and down their bodies. Each scene pretty much had the same level of eroticism - medium. The women were beautiful - just what you would expect from Playboy. But they didn't generate a lot of excitement or heat.
If you want to know what I like from past DVDs from Playboy, check out the two "Shower Scenes" or the "Carwash" scene from the "Cheerleaders" video or "Double Exposure" from "Girls Behaving Badly".

Top Dog (1995) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)In "Top Dog", Chuck Norris again plays a tough cop who prefers to work alone, very much like in "Lone Wolf McQuade". His boss forces him to work with a partner, only this time the new partner turns out to be a dog named Reno, Together, they must stop a violent white supremacist group and at the same time find out who killed Reno's last partner.
Watching "Top Dog", I get the feeling the filmmakers couldn't decide who their target audience was. The cop/dog story, and a subplot involving a young boy suggests a family film, but the film is no less violent than many other Norris films. I doubt if it's suitable for children. On the other hand, some scenes feel very much like a family film and aren't likely to appeal to action or Chuck Norris fans. To me the film would have been better without those scenes. It's still an entertaining grade B film with both action and humor. The interaction between Norris and his dog is more fun than that of James Belushi and his dog in "K-9". Recommended to Norris fans and fans of lightweight action/comedies who can overlook the more silly parts of the film.

Emmanuelle in Hong Kong (2003) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I think everyone interested in the adult cinema should pick up this DVD, it's a great show. The story is not one of those typical non-sense sex-seeker one, and also the way they handle the sex scenes are very interesting. I love to see more from this studio, being an adult cinema fan sick of all the stupid X rated films.
