(More customer reviews)This DVD is extremely well put together. It exposes & details 50 positions with very informative (optional) narration that consicely explains the attractions of each position. The 3D glasses (included) are a kick for sure, perfect for parter participation (you get 2 pairs), but they are far from required and the program is not a gag. It's great. It's tastful. It's informative.

Shrek/Shrek 3D Double Bill (2001) Review

(More customer reviews)First, there's the Shrek film, which is not only an Academy Award winning Animated film...It's one of the best Films I've ever seen. I HIGHLY recommend that you buy the ASIN=B00003CXXJ version of Shrek which is both Widescreen and Fullscreen DVD, with great extras. The Shrek in this DVD pack is just Full Screen, which is an insult to this amazing film.
Then, there's Shrek 3-D, which is a great "4-D" theme park attraction at Universal Studios. It looses some of it's funniness going from 4-D to 3-D...so see it at the theme park, in all it's glory. Here, it is only presented in Anaglyph (Latin for "annoying"). The 15 minute short is presented in 2 formats, 2-D (why?!?) and Anaglyph (Red/Cyan glasses). Very bad move not to have included a Field Sequential 3-D version, which is what all the 3-D film lovers were readying their wallets for. Anaglyph looks like bad 3-D on all TVs, while Field Sequential looks great, but only works some TVs. Including both would've sold very well.
Lastly...there's NO "Making Of Shrek 3-D" on the 3-D DVD...just 2 versions of a 15 minute short, and an interesting ad/trailer for Shrek 2.
Skip this 2 pack. Buy the Widescreen DVD of Shrek. And hope they re-release Shrek 3-D in Field Sequential 3-D, with a Making Of, as a single DVD, later.

Mitsubishi 3DC-1000 3D HDTV Starter Pack Review

(More customer reviews)I got the Mitsubishi WD-65C9 65-Inch DLP TV in November and have been waiting for the Mitsubishi 3d kit. I was able to order this kit from RC Willey and it was delivered today! I hooked it up in a matter of minutes (I also have 3d ready Blu-Ray player) and turned it on. The kit comes with a dvd that previews upcoming 3d Blu-Ray releases and I have to tell you, it is pretty amazing. The 3d is really fantastic and I can not believe that I am able to have this in my living room!! I LOVE IT!!!! When we turned it on...all we could say was "Wow" over and over again. I have one blu-ray 3d dvd movie - Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs - I plan on watching it tonight with my kids. I highly recommend the Mitsubishi WD-65C9 TV and the Mitsubishi 3DC-1000 3D HDTV Starter Pack Kit. Can't wait for more releases!!!

The Universe: 7 Wonders of the Solar System (2010) Review

(More customer reviews)This 3D Blu-Ray exceeded my expectations. I was expecting the same episode that originally aired on The History Channel, probably with some gimmicky 3D effects added in (yes, I bought it anyway, hoping that I was wrong). However, I was surprised to see (what I believe to be) some new, 3D interview footage and some new narration recorded specifically for this release. The 3D effects are very good. Seeing tiny Mercury eclipse the giant Sun in 3D is breathtaking as are some of the beautiful images of the rings of Saturn. Sure, most of it is CG, but that's fine because it looks really great. The only poor CG has to do with the spacecraft in which you are supposedly touring the solar system. Really, my only complaint is that there is some substantial crosstalk in many scenes, mostly when you see an object against the blackness of space. If that weren't true, I would have given this release 5 stars instead of 4.
My 2-year-old son is showing a lot of interest in space/planets/astronomy, so I thought he might enjoy this. Indeed, he did. He sat riveted through the whole thing (which, if you knew my hyper son, is pretty amazing). "Is that Saturn?", "Look, the Sun! It's coming out of the TV!", "Wow, the Sun is very hot!", etc. One thing this video accomplished for my son is something I had been unable to articulate to a 2-year-old; that is the sheer size of the planets. The 3D really helps to illustrate this in a way that nothing else can. I think he now has a good sense of how enormous the sun is when compared to other planets.
This video satisfied an itch that I hoped would have been scratched by many of the 3D Imax documentaries out there that disappointed me. It's a good, 3D documentary that can serve as a good demo of your new 3D TV, yet also be interesting and watchable in its own right. "7 Wonders of the Solar System" accomplishes this nicely. Sure, it has a few problems (crosstalk, poor CG graphics for the spacecraft, etc.), but overall I'm really happy with it. Videos are subjective though, so your mileage may vary.

Festival of 3-D Movie Trailers Review

(More customer reviews)This is a great DVD, I can't recommend it highly enough. Containing original theatrical trailers for almost all the 3-D movies from the 1950's, along with some rare footage from 3-D movies going back to the 1930's, it is a must for fans of the stereoscopic cinema. A couple of the trailers are 3-D versions specially converted to the anaglyphic 3-D format, and the 30s footage is also in this format, the enclosed glasses are all you need to watch that portion of the DVD.
