Dance a GoGo : Sexy Nightclub Workout Review

Dance a GoGo : Sexy Nightclub Workout

I have bought so many workout DVDs, and this is by far THE BEST I have ever bought because it has EVERYTHING a workout video needs. It has step-by-step instructions for each of the workouts. The dance music is hip and great. The dances are sexy and fun. In addition, the workouts here require you to move ALL OF YOUR BODY and keep your heart rate at the target zone AT ALL TIME!! You can tell that they actually spent a lot of time choreographing the dances and making this DVD. Everything is done by the very professionals instead of just some sexy/party girls dancing together in a basement. I am sure that many of you who have bought many workout videos will know what I am talking about. Most of the weight loss workouts are not fun or sexy, and most of the sexy workouts won't speed up your heart rate enough to lose weight. If you want a dance workout DVD with everything: that is fun, hip, and sexy; has nice music; teaches you how to dance; and helps you lose weight; this is the number one DVD that I will recommend. I think Andrea needs to put out more dance/workout DVDs.

Envy Girls - Workouts for the Spots That Really Count Review

Envy Girls - Workouts for the Spots That Really Count
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought "ENVYGirls" hesitantly. I had previously been dupped into purchasing Carmen Electra's "Aerobic Striptease" DVD (from the same producers) expecting a fun but somewhat effective workout, and have never forgiven myself since! Nonetheless, the reviews that I read on Amazon convinced me to take a chance on this one. And I am happy to say that I made the right decision!
This DVD is without doubt one of my favorite toning workouts. Period.
First off, as evidenced by the packaging, the production is first-rate. It is as clear and well-edited as any major Hollywood production, and the absolutely gorgeous island setting (South Pacific?? Carribean??) inspires me to work out even harder. You can practically feel the breeze coming off the ocean! :-) The music is GREAT, hip and modern; I love it! It's so refreshing to actually work out to a good soundtrack instead of the generic dance club beat that is so prevalent in exercise videos.
The entire concept of "ENVYGirls" is that of a "superteam of fitness" (their words, not mine), each one with a particularly good body part. Each girl then leads you through a 15-20 minute workout to help you get that particularly good body part. The parts are: Abs, Buns, Legs and Arms. There is an optional 4-min. warmup (it is the same on all four programs) and 5-min. express workouts for each program.
Make no mistake, this is not just an eye candy DVD a la Carmen Electra. It actually is a pretty effective strength workout. The moves are designed by celebrity trainer Michael Carson who is very knowledgable and inspiring but not drill sergeant-like (if you've ever seen "The Biggest Loser," think Bob, not Jillian!). Michael does a voiceover commentary on the warmup (as I preceeded this workout with cardio, I never really used the warmup) as well as a Trainer's Tips interview for each workout in which he guides you through correct form of some of the trickier exercises. Also, don't miss the Trainer Commentary Option on which you can have Michael give a voice over on both the Primary Workout and the 5 Min. Workout. He has a lot of important things to say, and don't worry, the music is still loud, and there is a repetition countdown on the screen, so you'll know how many reps you have left in a particular move!
ABS OF ENVY - My personal favorite! I still pull this one out from time to time, and I've owned this for over a year. When I initially viewed this program, I was skeptical because there are only a few crunches towards the end. However, when I did it, it was challenging, I broke a sweat, and when I went to stretch my abs at the end, they burned quite a bit! It utilizes a lot of standing abs moves, but if you concentrate on using your abs, your belly will become sculpted and flat and your waist will be cinched, giving you that hourglass effect. Done almost entirely standing with a few minutes of floorwork.
BUNS OF ENVY - Uses various squats (love that Helicopter Squat!), Lunges, Reverse Lunges (called dips in The Firm) and other moves to effectively shape your glutes and thighs. Done mostly standing with some floorwork about three-quarters into the workout.
LEGS OF ENVY - Uses lunges, plies, plyo jumps and even balance moves to give you shapely thighs and calves. Done entirely standing with stretching on the floor at the very end.
ARMS OF ENVY - Uses bicep curls, hammer curls and some fun, creative moves such as the Dumbbell Catch and the Gecko Pushup to work your upper body. Done mostly standing with some push-up variations and floor tricep work towards the end.
And Now For The Bad: The only real detriments that I could find: One- The packaging of the DVDs. Yes, plural. All four programs, unnecessarily, are recorded onto 4 separate DVDs. For anyone who wished to combine workouts, it can be quite annoying to have to switch DVDs and then sit through minutes of exercise advisement/legal jargon/Lionsgate material. Two-The repetiveness of the exercises. Though I found the exercises different and fun, each program actually contains about 7 minutes of moves that are repeated at least once halfway through. Depending on your attention span and the frequency with which you use this DVD, you may get bored quickly.
Three- The girls themselves. Though I found them pleasant enough, it is obvious that these girls are not fitness professionals and were simply cast due to their looks. Some viewers may find them a little Playboy-bunny-esque and not interesting. I simply was inspired to attain their physiques! If they bother you, you could always choose the voiceover option by Michael , who IS a fitness professional, and a charismatic one at that.
All in all, I highly recommend this DVD and don't think anyone who wants a great body will be dissapointed.

Dancing With the Stars: Ballroom Buns & Abs Review

Dancing With the Stars: Ballroom Buns and Abs

(More customer reviews)
Having done every DVD in the "Dancing with the Stars" (DWTS) workout series of DVDs and not being too impressed with the last toning-focused DVD, I was very surprised when I popped this one into the DVD player and found out that I got a great cardio workout, felt my legs tone up, AND had fun all at the same time in this DVD.
"Ballroom Buns and Abs" is divided into four sections: Rock, Paso Doble, Argentine Tango, and the Cooldown. Here is what I thought of all the routines seperately:
Rock'n Abs - Led by Edyta Sliwinska this routine is largely composed of Jive moves with a few other styles of moves mixed in. Edyta, who is upbeat and encouraging the whole time, teaches very well by slowing down the moves to half tempo and doing them with the viewer several times slowly before moving onto tempo and then the next step. The first 5 minute section is spent teaching you combo 1, and the second 5 minute section teaches you the first part of combo 2. Then the third 5 minutes finishes combo 2 and puts both combos together for a high cardio routine that you do a few times through. Although the moves are taught slowly, you will still get a cardio workout because the moves are really fast and high-impact with kicking, triple-stepping, and twisting included in them (very reminiscent of the moves in Jive sections of the previous DWTS DVDs). These moves are designed to work the abs, but I mostly felt this workout in my calves even though the twisting worked my abs a bit, too.
Paso Doble - Next up is the Paso Doble with Chelsea Hightower. The majority of the moves are traditional Paso Doble and Flamenco moves taught with leg-toning in mind. Chelsea is just as chirpy (without being over the top) as Edyta is, but she has a different teaching style. Instead of slowing down one move to teach at a time, she will slow down the whole combo to teach. At the end of learning all of the combos, they are all put together for a full routine that you do three times through. This actually doesn't bring down the cardio too much, for most of the moves (like the moves in the previous section) are high impact to keep the heart pumping. There are lunging moves, kicks, and cape moves (no cape required), and some of the moves are quite difficult to pull off, especially since no modifications are offered. Ultimately, I felt this routine mostly in my thighs and on my quads.
Argentine Tango - In this Argentine Tango routine, there are no real cardio moves in it, but it still manages to work the legs very well. When Kym Johnson, the instructor of this routine, announced that the chair you use as a prop during the routine was the "man" of the routine, I was afraid this was going to be a very feminine section, but it really wasn't. I used the chair as my "woman" and really enjoyed all of the moves that Kym taught; the chair actually made the routine more fun, making it seem like I was dancing a real routine, instead of exercising. Kym teaches one move at a time, and at the end she puts them all together to do one time. Kym is probably the cheesiest of all three of the instructors, but you will really overlook that as you work your body doing the flicks and lunges of this routine; I mostly felt these moves on my abs and buns.
Cooldown - Finally, all three of the girls get together (with the four background dancers that had been present in all the routines) in order to do some stretching and cooling down of your body. There are some stretches for the abs, calves, quads, chest and hips; and I really felt like they did a sufficient job of stretching my body out.
Overall, this is an amazing workout with 2 cardio/toning sections and 1 section dedicated to just toning. I really felt my legs and abs work in this workout, and I also had a great time, making this DVD 5 stars in my book.

Dance with Julianne: Just Dance Review

Dance with Julianne: Just Dance
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a DWTS fan, and owning Julianne's first DVD, I HAD to get this one.
This is Julianne's contemporary dance DVD workout, so no ballroom here. Again there is a warm up, cooldown and three dance segments, with a breakdown tutorial of the moves.
The three dance sections are: Work It, Flaunt It and Pump It. Each section features techno-y dance music, and starts with one move to add another etc until the routine is complete.
I have to be honest the first time I did this DVD, I wasn't too thrilled. I thought it was very difficult, and the steps were hard to get down, and yes I did watch the tutorial and I didn't find it a big help. I learn more by just doing the dance than breaking it down slowly; I learn more by doing the routine at full speed rather than a slow breakdown of the steps. But the first time, while the DVD was fun I found the choreo frustrating.
I gave it a second chance because it did my heart pumping the first time and LOVED it!! My advice to anyone doing this is don't worry about doing it perfect everytime. Just have fun with the moves, which are truly "music video" worthy. Don't worry how you look, don't worry if it's perfect just go with it and you will get a great workout! Some examples: in the "Flaunt It" routine you have to do kind of a drag running step which is impossible on a carpet so I just adjusted it and did what I could. And even though I have previous dance experience (about 25 years worth) I know the difference between an experienced dancer (myself) and a professional one (Julianne) So do the moves to the best of your abilties, remember you're not Julianne, and don't hurt yourself!
All in all this is a great workout and since it is so much fun the time flies by and by the end of it I am dripping sweat and didn't even realize it!
Excellent buy, so worth it!!
