Pandora Peaks / Finders Keepers, Lovers Weepers Review

Pandora Peaks / Finders Keepers, Lovers Weepers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Russ Meyer's "Pandora Peaks" gets a bad rap, but it is a fitting final film celebrating all the sexy things Meyer celebrated. While there is no story, there is wit and self-parody. "Pandora Peaks" is a remake or a redo of his wistful "Mondo Topless" in the 1960s complete with tape recorders. I don't share Meyer's predilections, but I find a lot of things to enjoy in his films and I find them in "Pandora Peaks".
Perhaps "Pandora Peaks" is his Warhol film. You can come and go as you please. Leave it playing and check it out as you go about your household chores.
"Finders Keepers Losers Weepers", which I had not seen before, is probably more conventional and straight than his official straight films, "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" and "The Seven Minutes". Could have been better with humour, but still a good B grade thriller to pass the time away.

Ninja Vixens, Vol. 6 - Forbidden Paradise Review

Ninja Vixens, Vol. 6 - Forbidden Paradise
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Anyone expecting a great viewing experience from a movie with a title like "Ninja Vixens, Vol. 6 - Forbidden Paradise" really needs to examine their expectations. Take a look at the cover. That is what you are going to get.

In the long tradition of the Japanese "pink" film, this is the latest versions of the sexy fighting girl theme, women who seem to do far more bathing than combat, and know that a ninja's best weapon isn't necessarily her throwing stars. The only thing that really matters in a flick like this is the hope that the story isn't too bad, and that the chicks are hot.
Well rest assured. The story isn't too bad, and the chicks are hot. "Ninja Vixens" is actually a somewhat long-running series. I have only seen this one, but that didn't really matter. There isn't much by way of story continuity. This one tells the tale of woe of two ninja vixen sisters who rescue a handsome young samurai on the run. Well, there can be only one conclusion when two sisters fall in love with the same guy in a "Ninja Vixen" series, and it isn't fighting. Unfortunately, the demon hag Ogen shows up, and the gals have to take a break from their bathing to earn the ninja vixen name.
The ninja vixen trio is made up of Misaki Kanda, Mizuho Enomoto and Yuki Matsuda. Don't look for their prior acting experience, because that isn't why they were hired. Former race queens and models, they are all nicely pretty and bouncy in the right places, and emote only as a girl in a pink film should.
As a pink film, the nudity is all strictly T&A, and the sex scenes are all highly simulated. The "Ninja Vixens" series has more in common with the genre of 80's sex comedies, like Ski School and H.O.T.S., than rough Japanese flicks like Wife to Be Sacrificed and Flower & Snake. Take a look at the costumes, which are straight out of a bad 80's music video, and it will give you an idea of what to expect!

Cheeky (Uncut) ( Trasgredire ) ( Transgressions ) Review

Cheeky (Uncut) ( Trasgredire ) ( Transgressions )
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This movie was my initiation to the films of Tinto Brass. I rented it on a whim not knowing what to expect. In all fairness, I'd have to say that it is at least VERY erotic, and on the verge of softcore porn. Its fun and harmless though. The lead acress, Yuliya Mayarchuk, is very cute and likeable in this movie. The storyline is about what you might expect for the type of movie. While it is a little more in-depth than an X-rated movie, it still is a relatively lightly written premise. Definitely not intended for someone looking for a thought provoking or insightful movie.
But in any case, it is fun and not without its charms. Very sexy, enjoyable and light-hearted comedy with lots of nudity!! I recommend it.

Fascination (1979) Review

Fascination (1979)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Once again, the prolific french director, Jean Rollin, provides the bored horror film market with a true classic. Fascination is a bizarre foray into the twisted realm of two women who seek to entice unwary men into their devilish world of evil. As with all Rollin films, Fascsination is ripe with symbolism and grotesque imagery which puts most current horror films to shame. For those of us who have seen way too many horror films, Rollin's Fascination will renew our faith in the genrea-check it out.

Legendary horror director Jean Rollin presents "Fascination," his "homage to vampirism." This film is filled with visual delights, sensual lesbian lovemaking, a group of castle-dwelling bourgeois women blood-drinkers and the beautiful Brigitte Lahaie as a scythe-wielding avenger. Two women chosen by the group must find a man that they can slaughter and communally consume in a cannibalistic vampire feast.

This rating is not for the movie which is good and every bit what the other reviewers have noted. My beef is with the DVD which is 85 minutes and even shorter than the VHS version which is 92 minutes. Can someone tell me why? If anything, the director's cut should have been produced on DVD. What a disappointment!

Don's Plum Review

Don's Plum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Don's Plum made in 8 days of shooting from an outline that was then improvised by the actors is an exceptional piece of "film verite" work that was made on the lowest of budgets and shot on 16mm. Certainly, Leonardo DiCaprio shows us how remarkably talented and agile he can be with or without a scripted piece. His performance shines.
I saw the opriginal directors' cut, as well as the finished film on 35mm blow up and the film will remain a clear expose' of the young modern urban California characters it represents for all time.
The rest of the cast surround DiCaprio with fine work. Expecially that of Kevin Connolly, Bryan Thames, Amber Benson and Meadow Sisto. This is a film that will never be forgotten and it is still sad that it had such an unfortunate fate never to be seen in the context of the time in which it was made, except for outside the US and Canada.

Emmanuelle (1974) Review

Emmanuelle (1974)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It is amazing that over a quarter of a century since its original release that Emmanuelle remains in the top three best selling French films on video. But is it so remarkable? Here we have a piece of pure eroticism which has scarcely been matched in all those years. Emmanuelle is not about explicit sexual action - those that buy it will be disappointed if that is what they expect, with the exception of the notorious nightclub smoking scene which I feel sure director Just Jaeckin must now regret including. If it is possible to feel outraged by anything when watching a movie about sex, then this scene provokes that reaction. No, this is a mainstream movie which has the power to move both men and women viewers - not least because of a towering central performance by the gloriously sexy Ms Kristel. She is never self-conscious about her body nor at the same time ever flaunts it. Her nudity is completely natural and her joy in her exploration of her sexuality totally convincing.
This is because Kristel - and a high-profile supporting cast - are all extremely capable actors, and are very well directed by Jaeckin. I guess one should not take the overall premise of totally liberated sexual experimentation too seriously, but you completely believe in the characters and want them to come out of the other side unscathed. I first saw this movie as an 18-year-old on its original release, saw it again with its original French dialogue in Paris several years later and have watched it countless times on video and TV since. Yet it still retains the same erotic charge as it did all those years ago. How Kristel managed to completely fail to live up to it in her subsequent films is completely beyond me. The rest of her Emmanuelle series are unsexy and even seedy by comparison and her ventures into American films offered her nothing of any substance. I believe Hollywood missed a glorious opportunity to create an top international star.

Intimate Obsession Review

Intimate Obsession
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm not sure anyone who wants to buy this movie is seriously looking for a well written script, but in case you want to know more of the "web of deceit and betrayal" as advertised on the back cover of the video tape, here's the plot. Rachel Taylor, played by Jodie Fisher, is the beautiful and neglected wife of a lawyer whose successful career is getting on a fast track. As Tom Taylor's busy schedule leaves Rachel so bored, she begins a torrid affair with Rick Simms, a boxing-contender-turned-sexy-bartender, while Tom is also having an affair with a buxom blondie named Laura (played by Kristi Scott of the "Bikini Carwash Company" series). Before long, Rachel discovers that Tom hired Rick to seduce her so he could get grounds for a divorce, so she sets out to turn the tables on him...
Although "Intimate Obsession" is viewed by some tough critics as a bottom shelf erotic thriller (obviously due to poor acting and directing), I think the cinematography is pretty good and the curvy Jodie Fisher deserves some credit as a real eye candy. Anyway, she would go on with her career, and apart from some minor roles opposite Lisa Boyle and Shannon Tweed, she does get another leading role in "Body of Influence 2" a few years later. Good for her.

In 3 DVDs , for a very good price, you can watch the complete series of Playboy Wet & Wild : 10 titles, some unavailable, from 1989 to 2002.
These titles, in my opinion, are among the best of Playboy (a must for PB collectors): the playmates, as usual, are gorgeous, but there is a richness of cheerfulness, innocence, joie de vivre, lacking in more recent Playboy productions.

Dance a GoGo : Sexy Nightclub Workout Review

Dance a GoGo : Sexy Nightclub Workout
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have bought so many workout DVDs, and this is by far THE BEST I have ever bought because it has EVERYTHING a workout video needs. It has step-by-step instructions for each of the workouts. The dance music is hip and great. The dances are sexy and fun. In addition, the workouts here require you to move ALL OF YOUR BODY and keep your heart rate at the target zone AT ALL TIME!! You can tell that they actually spent a lot of time choreographing the dances and making this DVD. Everything is done by the very professionals instead of just some sexy/party girls dancing together in a basement. I am sure that many of you who have bought many workout videos will know what I am talking about. Most of the weight loss workouts are not fun or sexy, and most of the sexy workouts won't speed up your heart rate enough to lose weight. If you want a dance workout DVD with everything: that is fun, hip, and sexy; has nice music; teaches you how to dance; and helps you lose weight; this is the number one DVD that I will recommend. I think Andrea needs to put out more dance/workout DVDs.

Female Yakuza Tale - Inquisition and Torture (2005) Review

Female Yakuza Tale - Inquisition and Torture (2005)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Directed by seasoned veteran of Japanese exploitation cinema Teruo ISHII, FEMALE YAKUZA TALE - INQUISITION AND TORTURE is the unrelated sequel to SEX AND FURY (also available on amazon), again starring beautiful and very sexy Reiko IKE as tough as nails female gambler Ocho. Set in Kobe ca. 1920, the story with various fractions of yakuza, revenge and double - crossing is a bit too overconvoluted for its own good. To cut a long story short, let`s just say you can expects LOTS of nudity, sex, violence and sleaze. Some examples of what you can expect here: there are some nasty yakuza who force women to smuggle drugs in their private parts (!) As incentive the poor drug addicted gals get their fix injected in their naked breasts (!) In one particularly sleazy scene our heroine is engaged in a card game with mean yakuza mobster Big Tiger, who foolishly accuses her of cheating and insists that Ocho strips naked (!) to prove she did not hide cards. On the condition that he cuts off some of his fingers in time honoured yakuza-tradition, should he be proven wrong, she drops her clothes (in the process clandestinely disposing of an incriminating card). Now it's time of the unfortunate yakuza to cut off his fingers, but his girl comes to his rescue and asks Ocho for a favour "from woman to woman": Making an obscene gesture with her hand, she begs Ocho to spare Big Tiger's middle finger. It's up to the viewer's dirty imagination, why she asks his finger be spared...
The showdown, involving sword- and gunplay, explosions, blood geysirs and about two dozen naked girls (!) is particularly over the top. As if this was not enough there is some downright silly slapstick and funny dialogue ("trashy boss" being my favorite) thrown in for good measure.
When all is said and done, FEMALE YAKUZA TALE - INQUISITION AND TORTURE is surely a pleasureable and entertaining way to spend an evening. The film is well-shot with stunning cinematography. Reiko IKE is great. However, I found the film still a bit disappointing. The story is convoluted and over blown. Personally, I found SEX AND FURY a far better film. Sure, there is more sex and violence in INQUISITION (though there is not a shortage of it in SEX AND FURY either), but SEX AND FURY has a better story and is overall a far more rewarding viewing experience.
Technically the DVD is great. The film is presented in its original widescreen aspect ratio, colours are nice and the print is pristine. There are also several interesting extra features. First of all the excellent trailer. Then there are picture galleries of promotional art and stills from the film. There are also excellently written production notes and bio- and filmographies of director Terou ISHII and star Reiko IKE.

Female Yakuza Tale - Inquisition And Torture is an anarchistic apex in the career of Japanese cult director, Teruo Ishii, whose fifty year resume includes Horror of Malformed Men and Blind Beast Vs. Notoriously lacking restraint, sexy 'pinky violence' star, Reiko Ike, returns in this gonzo sequel to Sex & Fury following the further exploits of Ocho, a thief and gambler running afoul of evil yakuza in Meiji Era Tokyo. Aided by a lone wolf adventurer (Ryohei Uchida), Ocho investigates a ruthless gang of cutthroats who are using indentured prostitutes as drug mules to smuggle heroin from China. Director Ishii throws everything but the kitchen sink into this mind-altering sexploitation action saga, all culminating in a bloody mobster massacre replete with sultry swordswomen. Like It Is (1998) Review

Like It Is (1998)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Much better than expected, it was. Steve Bell turned in a terrific performance as the bare-knuckle street fighter who tries to turn is life around for the better once he meets an openly gay music producer (handsome Ian Rose). It amazes me when straight actors give such top-notch performances as gay characters (Get Real, Beautiful Thing, ect) and Bell's performance is right up there. I was expecting a two-second cameo by Roger Daltrey, however, he plays a strong role in the film as the aging, rich bitchy queen of yore - he was excellent and had few zingers in his scenes. Theme wise, this film is optimistic and engaging. There's a subplot involving the creation of a '90's boy band that is just too precious - they can't dance, who knows if they can really sing and their music is very Euro-disco and teeny-bopper oriented. The lead singer of this group comes between Bell and Rose at one point in the story - could you imagine the British tabloid press getting a hold of that factoid? Director Paul Oremland gives us a film as earnest and romantic as he intends to give (the character of fighter Bell was inspired by his own experience as he explains in the DVD's featurette) and I look forward to his next projects. As for the DVD: the picture is letterboxed to 1.66:1. The video is much crisper and clearer than I was expecting - it looks very good. The sound is clean and audible. Music sequences give quite a punch and there is no background hiss to be heard. Colors are stable and natural, but I really liked the scenes in the nightclubs which were fairly vibrant without "bleeding" or "smearing". There is also an original trailer that is incorporated into the informative featurette. I especially liked the ending of the film which wisely avoids the Hollywood-ish all's well that ends well bug. Overall, recommended but try to get the DVD version of this film - the quality is pretty darn good.

Director Paul Oremland's witty, fast-paced love takes us into the gay nightclubs and pop music scenes of London where Matt (Ian Rose), a young, ultra-cool record producer visiting Blackpool, meets Craig (Steve Bell), a young northern lad who makes money from illegal bare-knuckle fights and is struggling with his sexual identity. The two have a brief and clumsy sexual encounter that becomes a liaison which changes both of their lives. As they try to form a lasting relationship amongst all the pretense of London nightlife, Matt's bitchy boss Kelvin (Roger Daltrey), and his flatmate and biggest star, Paula (Dani Behr), try their best to keep them from living happily every after. LIKE IT IS takes a candid look at "Cool Britannia"--London's cutting-edge club culture--with exuberance, and offers an enjoyable and positive look of gay life rarely seen in films. In 1998, LIKE IT IS played to sold out festival crowds, rave reviews and smash openings in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Miami and other US cities. "Studded with good performances" (The Advocate) by actors Ian Rose and Steve Bell--who has been called "an amazing talent--clearly gorgeous, with marvelously expressive eyes, a chiseled body, powerful charisma" (Bay Area Reporter)-- and the legendary Roger Daltrey of The Who who is "appealingly devilish" (NY Times), as well as British pop star Dani Behr as pouty, spoiled diva.

Sex and Fury (2005) Review

Sex and Fury (2005)

(More customer reviews)

Walking underneath a series of torii gates with her father, a young Kyoko witnesses the death of her father when unknown culprits stab him to death. However, before he dies he picks up three cards depicting the images of a boar, a deer, and a butterfly. With only this scant information to aid her in identifying her father's killers, Kyoko changes her name to Inoshika Ocho and lives the next 20 years of her life honing skills in gambling and pick pocketing.
One day at a gambling house owned by a seedy man named Imamura, a dealer is accused of cheating and is killed by its patrons. However, before he dies he tells Ocho that Imamura was the one who told him to cheat and he asks her to take 500 yen, this movie takes place in 1905, to purchase his sister back from a prostitution house in Asakusa. That night, while bathing, Ocho is attacked by Imamura and his goons, so the viewer is treated with the image of a totally nude Ocho, the actress Ike Reiko was 19 or 20 at the time this film was made and was quite nubile and bouncy at the time, slicing apart Imamura and his men in a montage of blood, naked flesh, severed limbs, and snow with early 1970s psychedelic rock playing in the background.
Ocho eventually arrives in Asakusa and, along with communicating with her foster mom and her "sisters", eventually finds Yuki, the dead man's sister, but her purchaser, a business man named Iwakura is unwilling to let go of his new virgin, deflowering virgins is his hobby after all. However, he is willing to give up Yuki if Ocho can defeat a foreign gambler, Swedish model Christina Lindberg, but if she loses Iwakura will get both Yuki and Ocho. Christina does well at first, but after the party is attacked by her former lover Shunosuke, who bears a grudge against Iwakura and the politician Kurokawa, her mind is filled with images of their love-making and she loses the match. However, during this time Iwakura has intercourse with Yuki and later the heartbroken girl informs Ocho that the old pervert has a tattoo of a deer on his back. Finding one of her father's murderers, Ocho embarks on a quest for revenge during which she will have to face all sorts of adversaries, including switchblade-wielding nuns and gangsters.
During the 1950s cinema was king in Japan. Millions of film viewers flocked to thousands upon thousands of theaters. However, during the 1960s television and its all encompassing grasp took hold of the country and film studios began to close and many film directors such as Kobayashi Masaaki and Kurosawa Akira had difficulty funding their films. Instead films filled with sex and violence, Roman Porn or Pink Films, became the standard. Once respected film studios such as Nikkatsu started to churn out one skin flick after the other. With limited budgets and limited filming schedules, these films were quickly produced, consumed by the audience, and completely forgotten. However, some of these films, such as this film, Zero Woman: Red Handcuffs, the Female Prisoner Scorpion series, have made more of a lasting impact that can be seen in the films in such directors as Miike Takashi.
Sex and Fury is of course filled with violence. Severed limbs fly about and blood sprays all over the walls. Ocho must endure being chained up and whipped by Christina, bondage and S&M scenes are quite common in these films, while her tormentors look on. There is of course a lot of sex also, including a lesbian sex scene between Christina and a servant of Kurokawa's named Shinobu. Add to this mixture of sex and violence a soundtrack of rock music that would please The Lemon Pipers and Strawberry Alarm Clock, Sex and Fury is an enjoyable, quick watch. I mean with switchblade-wielding nuns how could you go wrong?

Widely considered to be the Absolute Best Japanese Exploitation film! Sex & Fury, one of the wildest, most violent, just-plain-entertaining Japanese sexploitation pictures from the 1970s stars smoldering young 'pinky violence' actress Reiko Ike (veteran of the Girl Boss aka Sukeban film series) as Ocho, a gambler and pickpocket in Meiji Era Tokyo. After sheltering a fleeing anarchist, Ocho encounters the three villains responsible for her father's murder, and runs afoul of various yakuza who want her dead. A European spy (beautiful Christina Lindberg, star of Thriller - A Cruel Picture), whose sadistic diplomat boss has his own nefarious plans, complicates matters. A riproaring action saga filled with beautiful bodies, bloody swordplay, and psychedelic imagery -- all beautifully photographed in a number of astonishing setpieces. Directed by Norifumi Suzuki (who fathered the Sukeban genre), Sex & Fury transcends the pop culture realm to achieve genuine art. Wow! This movie rivals Behind Convent Walls and Sinful Nuns of St. Valentine as one of the best 'nunsploitation' films around. If you went to Catholic school you should definitely see this film!
The title sequence with blood and crosses starts the film off in an absolutely stunning way. From there it's naughty nuns and some horror thrown in for good measure. The color is really well done, the production value is high. If you like nuns, or even better lesbian nuns, with a bit of horror and a dab of religion thrown in you should check this out.

Torn between sexual desire, her vows of chastity and her fear of eternal damnation, a medieval nun struggles with her sanity. Bordering on madness, she seeks solace in the savage words of sexual denial that are spoken to her by a disturbing "death nun" vision. Her sanity is further threatened by the imagined figure of Mary Magdalen, who challenges her concepts of sex as an evil, malignant force. In between these discussions, the nun's mind is filled with brooding, violent, sexual fantasies that push her into a world of blackness, blood, and orgasmic self destruction.

The Emmanuelle Collection (Emmanuelle / Emmanuelle 2 / Good-bye Emmanuelle) (1974) Review

The Emmanuelle Collection (Emmanuelle / Emmanuelle 2 / Good-bye Emmanuelle) (1974)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This boxed set presents the three original Emmanuelle movies, the ones starring Sylvia Kristel. There were lots of imitators, most ranging from bad to worse and beyond. At the time of the first Emmanuelle, though none of that had yet happened - please hold that happy thought. Perhaps these three aren't high art, but they're generally good entertainment for adults. They are also so different from each other that they deserve to be reviewed individually, not as a lump.
* Emmanuelle: Back in the 70s, this was a groundbreaking movie. It was openly erotic, and openly meant for the general public. I'll leave the social commentary to others. For me, it's just a beautiful movie. It's set in beautiful tropical locations. It stars beautiful actresses, back before implants were part of the uniform. Most of all, it shows beautiful (if artificial) exchanges of physical affection between Emmanuelle and just about everyone, man and woman.
Still, there were a few things about this movie that I didn't care for. It usually depicts Emmanuelle as a passive figure, to be led and acted upon. I prefer the stronger character in the sequel. Later parts of the movie depict coercion, something I really don't care for. The haughty poseur at the end was annoying, but distantly true to the book. Still, book fans shouldn't get their hopes up. This movie is its own creature, and pleasant enough if taken on its own terms.
* Emmanuelle 2: The best of the bunch, I think. This is a warmly sensuous film. This might even be the one to use for introducing a shy viewer to movies about physical happiness. Emmanuelle is fully her own woman - every scene lies well within her consent and enjoyment. A new character, Anna Maria, is a sweet, innocent young thing. Emmanuelle, of course, broaches that innocence in an elegantly filmed sequence of encounters. A few scenes, like the infamous "Jade Club", come across as crude, but only when meant to. Still, they don't seem threatening. That's another aspect of this film that I like better than the first.
It's too much to say that this movie has a plot, but it does have a story line of sorts. The movie is really just about happy eroticism, though, the kind that relies more on your imagination than on actual imagery. It's sort of like a musical where I come out humming the tunes even if I can't remember the words. Couples might like this movie, even bashful couples, and might like playing along with the actors on screen.
* Goodbye Emmanuelle: This is the third and last of Kristel's Emmanuelle movies, but don't hold her responsible. The backer had run into censorship problems with the second movie, and wanted to make sure that didn't happen again. The result is a disappointing attempt at being serious. It completely lacks the warm mood and physicality of the two earlier efforts. Even the background music has a very different style, one that I found far less successful in framing the visuals and dialog.
It tries to show Emmanuelle and husband Jean growing into a more stable, monogamous relationship. Instead, it just descends into petty jealousies and possessiveness. Jean, especially, pulls tricks that would have seemed silly even in high school. Perhaps the movie meant to show swelling affection and bruised feelings. Instead, it just showed swollen egos and bruised pride.

The Beast (La bête) (1977) Review

As legend has it, Walerian Borowzcyk originally intended the short version of "The Beast" to be part of his compilation film "Immoral Tales". Due to the nature of "The Beast", it was cut from the original film and put on the back-burner till Borowczyk decided to turn it into a full-length feature. I feel this decision was a poor one. The short version of "The Beast" is the best thing about this film, which essentially tries to pad out the original's 20 minute running time to an hour and a half. This wouldn't be so bad if the padding weren't so boring. Aside from the rose-masturbation scene, which is intercut with "flashbacks" to the short film, there really is not much else that would make this a worthwhile purchase for fans of erotic cinema. The notorious scenes of horse-copulation are distasteful and verge on disgusting for anyone not turned on by beastiality. Instead of this "hype" film, I would recommend you take a look at Radley Metzger's "The Image", another controversial film that actually goes beyond "The Beast" as far as inclusion of graphic content. As an added bonus, all the sex in "The Image" is of the human variety.
