(More customer reviews)This 1984 film The Story of O Part II is often confused with the 1981 film The Fruits of Passion ( les fruits de la passion) with Klaus Kinski. The video on this amazon product page is a different foreign film that takes a stab at the Story of O character. It is also in many ways superior sequel to Fruits of Passion. It has never been release on DVD in the US so it is lesser known. Of course any sequel that attempts to continue the story of "O" won't live up to the original. However, the actress playing "O" here Sandra Wey is the best I've seen in any version other than the original "Story of O" with Corinne Clery. The story doesn't pick up exactly where the original left off. But it is a more realistic idea of what would or could happen to the female character of "O". Sandra Wey plays the updated "O" as an independent woman who is a sort of sexual mercenary. She uses her power of seduction to gain access to a prominent and wealthy family. Hired by a powerful corporation that will stop at nothing to black mail this wealthy business man. "O" finds a way into the family's secluded estate and then systematically begins to seduce each of the family members starting with the young naive daughter. Moving on to her brother, the father, and eventually even the wife. All in a bid to black mail and gain control of their empire.
The film has plenty of highly erotic and sexual charged scenes. It deals with sexual orientation and domination. Sexual taboo's are broken and the inner fantasies of each family member are laid bare to "O". The story has some interesting twist and turns with an intriguing and unpredictable ending.
Even if you're skeptical of a Story of "O" sequel (there are more than a few) I would give this one a chance before any other.

Pandora Peaks / Finders Keepers, Lovers Weepers Review

(More customer reviews)Russ Meyer's "Pandora Peaks" gets a bad rap, but it is a fitting final film celebrating all the sexy things Meyer celebrated. While there is no story, there is wit and self-parody. "Pandora Peaks" is a remake or a redo of his wistful "Mondo Topless" in the 1960s complete with tape recorders. I don't share Meyer's predilections, but I find a lot of things to enjoy in his films and I find them in "Pandora Peaks".
Perhaps "Pandora Peaks" is his Warhol film. You can come and go as you please. Leave it playing and check it out as you go about your household chores.
"Finders Keepers Losers Weepers", which I had not seen before, is probably more conventional and straight than his official straight films, "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" and "The Seven Minutes". Could have been better with humour, but still a good B grade thriller to pass the time away.

Booby Trap / The Takers (1971) Review

(More customer reviews)The admittedly promising DVD cover lured me to buying this SOMETHING WEIRD double feature. Well, it is not so explosive as the title and artwork suggests.
The first movie BOOBY TRAP starts with a troubled ex-marine buying 40 Claymore mines and blowing the soldier who illegally sold him the explosives to smithereens, just for the fun of it. Cheering, he breaks out in maniacal laughter and fires his pump action shotgun.
A really promising start, but what a pity that the rest of the film does not live up to the first minutes. From now on the story concerning the psycho ex-marine, who wants to use the Claymore mines to blow up the hippie audience visiting a rock concert, and a not very soldier-like looking military policeman trying to hunt the psycho down, drags. Sure, the story sounds interesting, but it sounds actually better than it is.It is much too talky and the action scenes are few and far between.
(Admittedly things liven up a little when it's showdown time.) Some female nudity and sex is on display, but nothing to write home about. And do not expect to see much explosives induced mayhem.
Sure, I can think of worse ways to kill my time, but the film is not essential viewing.
I liked the second feature THE TAKERS much better. E.J. and Willy are outlaw bikers. After a violent fight with another biker, an extended sex and drug session with two girls and a gas station hold up, the bikers raid the home of housewife Laura and her friend Barbie ("We're gonna have us a party with some educated social-type broads.") Much sexual encounters and drug abuse ensue, before Laura's husband (Carl MONSON, who played the ex-marine on the loose in BOOBY TRAP) suddenly returns from a business trip. As you probably guessed it is comeuppance time now...Oh, and there is a silly surprise ending, which will have you shake your head in disbelief. (In the stage world this is called "BRECHTian alienation effect", I think). Believe me, it is REALLY silly!
Aside from that THE TAKERS is very sleazy and fun entertainment indeed.
As can be expected from SWV company their DVD offers many extra features. There are 9 trailers. It must be said that the BOOBY TRAP trailers are better than the movie itself. Generally, all trailers are a bit too long and give away too much of the respective movies. I liked the BLACK ALLEY CATS and the BLACK BUNCH trailer best. Curiously, there is a trailer for a movie called YOUNG AND WILD, which appears to be a different cut of BOOBY TRAP with more explicit sex scenes.
Another extra is a short documentary about motorcycle freaks, THESE ARE THE ALIENS! It ends rather abruptly, so I guess it is only a part of a longer film. The bikers are shown in their favorite activities (boozing, smoking grass, having sex, and chatting about their bad experiences with the law). Recommended only for die-hard biker (movie) fans.
The usual black and white striptease short subject is also not missing. It is called MAGNIFICENT MONIQUE, rather old and with horrible picture quality (what else do you expect?) Despite these shortcomings I really liked it, mainly because of the top-heavy "actress".

Don't be looking for fabulous effects on this one, it's just a funny little movie, cheesy humour, erotica, might remind you of zorro the gay blade, just with nudity...

Bare Behind Bars (1980) Review

(More customer reviews)I am not a fan of WIP (Women-In-Prison) movies. Generally I find them numbingly boring and falling far short of their sensationalistic claims. My preference in WIP movies is for hard and nasty scenes. Oswaldo De Oliveira's "Bare Behind Bars" goes the opposite route, highlighting camp and comedy. Given its limitations, it is still miles above the normal drivel. However, like other WIP movies, it doesn't live up top its promise of "brutal beatings, steamy showers, vicious violence and savage sexuality."
It is more laugh-out-loud funny than erotic. It is very tongue-in-cheek and doesn't take itself seriously for an instant. The acting is deliberately bad, over-the-top and cartoonish. And that is actually its saving grace, because it makes you laugh at the silliness of it all. Just sample the scene of the horny inmates using a makeshift pulley to slowly winch a dildo in between their cells at night. Or the wacky ether-addicted nurse who tries to take the Warden's blood pressure by wrapping the cuff around her neck. Or her buttock-grinding scene with her inmate lover which culminates with her introduction of the infamous pineapple dildo.
Thankfully the women in this prison are almost all deliciously hot and spend most of the time happily naked. And that includes the guards. My favorite here is the blond second-in-command. Sadly she doesn't have a sex scene of her own. To top it off, this version comes with hardcore elements fully integrated into the whole. On the downside, most of the scenes which should have been sleazy or degrading are here played only for laughs. The two "full-cavity searches" are more funny than erotic. The whipping scenes are so mechanical and perfunctory as to be devoid of any eroticism. The "steamy showers" are more like shower parties. The only violence of real standing are the two instances of sliced penises, one thrown to the dog, the other stuffed into its former owner's mouth. Now, that was worth watching.
The X-rating is justified. We are treated to blowjobs, dildo insertions, strapon action, amd full penetrative sex.
Blue Underground has done a beautiful restoration of this 25 year old film and presents it in its original widescreen aspect of 1.66:1 with anamorphic enhancement. Colors are rich, vibrant and accurate. The picture is sharp and richly detailed. Only an English-dub mono soundtrack has been provided. No other soundtracks are included although the actors are most likely speaking Portuguese and poor lip-synching is very evident throughout. Offering less than what was advertised and less than what I expected, it nevertheless was a fun and enjoyable romp. As a piece of camp cinema it's definitely worth at least a rental.

The most memorable short scene, is that of a ridiculously proportioned girl, Darlene Grey, doing a topless boogie in the desert. Otherwise petite, she almost falls over on several occasions, because of the weight of her swinging breasts!
Unlikely to be forgotten in a hurry.

Malabimba: The Malicious Whore (1979) Review

(More customer reviews)Bought this movie for $20 somewhere else but i'm not sure if this is the right place to put info for it. The version i bought is from Severin, widescreen, in italian with english subtitles, and says unrated version in front and not rated in back. The cover looks exactly the same as the others with the black background, but this one has a dark red background. The back of the box says it runs 85 minutes. Using the time display on my dvd player, it runs just under 87 minutes(most sites i've read have it running at 88 minutes excluding the hardcore inserts, which makes it break 90+ minutes i think).
Extras include:
* deleted scenes - runs at 15 minutes and are of varying video quality.
* integral version - the option to watch the film with the deleted scenes re-inserted. this version runs 96 minutes. obviously 87 + 15 is not 96 minutes. the deleted scenes include some footage already in the 87 minute version, hence the discrepancy.
* malabimba uncovered - 17 minute featurette with interviews of Mariangela Giordano(the nun in the film), and Franco Villa(the cinematographer, who says there were no hardcore scenes shot for the film).
* trailer - 4 minute trailer that has a few seconds of non-explicit footage that is NOT SEEN in either version on this disc(the death by fellatio scene).
Anyway, it's all kinda confusing to me, but i guess i got the slightly cut version. I could care less about the non-related, x-rated inserts; but the missing minute or so bothers me. I don't know what i'm missing exactly but judging on what's there, it still has a handful of sex scenes, lots of nudity, attractive women, and a few 'thats uncalled for' moments(one invloving a teddy bear).
Besides the missing footage, the most disappointing thing about the film is its lack of scares or atmosphere. If it weren't for the satanic possesion angle of the plotline, i wouldn't even consider it a horror film. As a sexploitation/grindhouse type film, i'd say it's above par. As an exploitation horror, i'd say it's below par. So, if you're not offended by the possible missing minute or so, and are into plotlines that can be summed up in a few words(pubescent, possession, perversion) and mainly just an excuse for deparavity, i can recommend this. 3 1/2 stars for film, rounded up to 4 for extras(count off whatever stars you want for missing footage).

Diary of a Nudist / The Naked Venus (1958) Review

There are the two movies with their very coy nudity (watch as the ladies artfully stand with their legs covering the 'rude' bits or with towels/papers/hats draped over their midsection. The picture is a good restoration of some poor quality (old poorly preserved) originals, but it is still very watchable. The movies themselves are not spectacular in their plot but still fun and interesting.
The extra's (of which there is over an hour) are the piece de resistance. You get trailers from 6 nudism related movies, extra footage from The Naked Venus, four shorts on nudity, a heap of poster art/production stills from various nudity related movies (with radio discussions over the top) and an easter egg of a nudist wedding.
About half of the extra's are in black and white (as is The Naked Venus). Some have been restored to very good quality but one or two are almost unwatchable. There is virtually no full frontal nudity, but lots of breasts and bottoms.
Everything is from the 50's and 60's and looks it (even naked, you can tell the era from the hair/makeup (sometimes this is caked on) and the cars). If you're interested in the history of nudity or nudity in films then this is highly recommended.

'DEADLY SWEET' (1967), AKA 'Heart In His Mouth', billed as "a cinema fumetti pop art giallo thriller", stars 17 year-old Ewa Aulin ('Candy', 'Legend Of Blood Castle') and features 60`s psychedelic pop art visuals by renowned artist Guido Crepax, Europe's erotic answer to Roy Lichtenstein by way of Aubrey Beardsley. It's a story-light romp through a genre-bending murder mystery/crime drama collision with a swinging London underground as backdrop. Featuring split-screens, triple-screens, comic art storyboards, it`s a lot of fun as a period piece, and not to be taken too seriously..
'THE HOWL' (1969), AKA 'L`urlo', starring Tina Aumont, is an arresting surrealistic cult classic that incorporates psychedelics, poetry, anarchy, absurdism, sexuality and a high level of anti-war sentiment into what amounts to 'Alice In Wonderland' on acid. It revolves around a bride who leaves her wedding in mid-ceremony with a stranger and together they set off on a trippy, wacky and bizarre journey. Welcome to the sexual/political revolution as Tinto Brass imagined it. Brass turned down the offer to direct 'A Clockwork Orange' to film this flick instead, though I'm thinking this wasn't a good decision on his part.
Lastly is 'ATTRACTION' (1969), AKA 'NEROSUBIANCO', AKA 'The Artful Penetration Of Barbara', produced by Radley Metzger, so we've upped the nudity quotient as a result. But it is unquestionably the best film of the three. Taboo-smashing for its time, it involves a married woman (Anita Sanders) whose journey through the (again) psychedelic British youth scene while being sexually persued by an attractive African-American male opens up a world of carnal offerings, tripped-out images, loads of nudity and dazzling 60`s fashions and iconography. If you like 60`s psych, pop-art visuals, near-plot less storylines and gratuitous flesh, grab yours now.

Loose Screws: Screwballs II (1985) Review

(More customer reviews)Well, I saw Screwballs and after being very pleased with that movie, I recently purchased Loose Screws a.k.a. Screwballs II. It was a good sequel. The humor was more juvenile and the plot wasn't as creative, but the movie did entertain. But as with most Hollywood sequels, this one did not exceed the entertainment value of the first movie and should be rated for its own entertainmnt value - which it earned a generously respectable rating. If anyone is an 80's comedy completionist who also enjoys a fun movie, then Loose Screws: Screwballs II is the right movie to purchase. The acting is definitely not that great, but these actors are not in this movie for an Oscar nomination. They are in it to entertain viewers, which they succeeded at very well in my opinion.

While the film dispenses with nearly all the play's poetry it has an appeal of its own--a sense of joyfulness or playfulness running through all its orgies, nudities, sexual frolics. It reminds me most of a Mozart opera--without the music, but with much greater explicitness. Perhaps if we were all blessed with more beauty or more imagination, life itself would resemble this fantastic, witty, uninhibited little film.

Ilsa - She Wolf of the SS (1975) Review

(More customer reviews)"Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS" is perhaps one of the better known exploitation films made in the last thirty years. The picture, directed by Don Edmonds and starring Dyanne Thorne in the titular role, is also one of the most disturbing. Oddly enough, I found this movie even more sickening the second time around. The first time I watched Ilsa do her stuff was on an old VHS tape about five years ago, and I didn't think the film was as horrific as many viewers made it out to be. Usually, the disgust factor works the other way around: the first viewing is the worst with the shock value wearing away on subsequent viewings. I should probably question the value of even watching "Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS" more than once, but I wanted to see what the picture looked like with a snappy new transfer to DVD. Moreover, I wanted to listen to the commentary track with Edmonds, Thorne, and producer David Friedman of "Blood Feast" fame (billed here as Herman Traeger). I wasn't disappointed; the picture quality of "Ilsa" is stunning for such a low budget piece of trash. The commentary track too makes this disc a must have for lovers of schlock cinema. Just don't pop this one in the DVD player when the relatives show up or as a substitute for taking your gal out on the town.
Set in the waning days of the Second World War, "Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS" takes place in a special medical camp where the brutal camp commander Ilsa (Dyanne Thorne) and her busty minions wreak havoc on a bevy of female prisoners. There are a few guys around too, mostly to act as boy toys for Ilsa's ravenous appetites. Ilsa's supposed to be conducting experiments on helpless prisoners that will benefit the German military effort, but she's got quite the disturbing side project going on as well. According to the She-Wolf, women possess certain biological characteristics that make them more resistant to pain then men. You can almost guess what happens next. Ilsa sets aside a hidden little laboratory in the basement of her office to test out her personal theories while the approved experiments take place in another building. Both sets of trials are excruciating to watch. The Germans test the effects of high pressure, boiling temperatures, and diseases on the female inmates of the prison. Down in the basement, Ilsa and her two blonde goons strip down to the waist in order to administer severe beatings to selected troublemakers. There's a lot more I could detail, but believe it or not these are the least offensive scenes in the movie. "Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS" is sick, sick stuff.
A sort of hope fills the prisoners' hearts when Wolfe (George Knoph) enters the camp. The new inmate has a "special ability" that allows him to find a way into the frosty heart of the buxom camp commander. Behind the scenes, the prisoners plot to escape from the prison any way they can. It won't be easy, not when one faces Ilsa, her she-wolfettes, her male assistant, a pack of sadistic guards, and machine gun towers. In the meantime, the degradations continue unabated. Ilsa whips up a few special treats for a visiting general (Wolfgang Roehm) that truly turn the stomach as Wolfe, Mario (Tony Mumolo), and Kala (Nicolle Riddell) carefully map out there plan. Will the prisoners escape? Will Ilsa and her handmaidens receive their just desserts? Will the Allies arrive at the camp before everyone perishes at the hands of the Germans? Will tough chick Anna (Maria Marx) withstand Ilsa's experiments and thus prove the commander's theory? Will you be able to keep your lunch down during the hour and a half it takes to watch the movie? These questions, and many others, will find resolution by the time the final credits roll.
What won't find resolution is your utter disgust with the film. A gallon of mouthwash won't remove the bad taste this movie leaves behind in your mouth. I found myself inadvertently comparing Edmond's picture with "Schindler's List," another film dealing with German atrocities during the Second World War. Truth be told, "List" is much more harrowing in its depictions of the concentration camps and the horrible living conditions of those people enslaved by the Germans. What sets "Ilsa" apart, what makes it even worse than "Schindler's List," is that it's all done for cheap, value neutral kicks. Why else play up endless scenes of nudity in a movie about war crimes? Despite Thorne's amazingly campy performance, "Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS" is a ghastly film that should repulse more than it exhilarates. Even more disturbing is the admission on the commentary track that the movie sets come from the television show "Hogan's Heroes." You won't see LeBeau, Carter, Sergeant Schultz, or Colonel Klink in this movie! If you find anything remotely exhilarating about this picture, you've been falling behind on your electroshock therapy treatments again.
Dyanne Thorne does pull off her role with ease, coming across as a heartless, cold monster without an ounce of remorse in her bones. It's quite the contrast to listen to the commentary track and realize the actress seems like an intelligent, sunny personality with a good sense of humor. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your view), the commentary track, a trailer, and a few biographies are the only extras on the disc. If you feel up to it, after you watch Ilsa ham it up as a German camp commander, you can watch her in three other films reprising the character-with slight modifications-in the Middle East and in Siberia. These are classic movies, for sure, but they're upsetting ones as well.

The Defilers/The Scum of the Earth (1965) Review

(More customer reviews)I just picked this up recently and it's quickly become one of my favorite SW DVDs. The two films are quite different: Scum of the Earth, David Friedman/H. G. Lewis's final nudie as partners (with virtually no nudity!) comes across like a high school play about pornographers, while The Defilers has the look and feel of an early-1960s B&W TV drama punctuated with ... unsettling violence. Both movies feature several cast members from Blood Feast and the other Blood Trilogy movies.
Scum of the Earth's world-weary, boozing photographer Harmon (William Kerwin [Blood Feast]) snaps photos of pert blonde cheescake model Sandy, who's anxiously awaiting "retirement." (All her shots are taken with a scarf covering her chest.) She's also forced to pose in (implied) B&D shots ("Remember, I'm not double-jointed!") with hulking, violent misogynist brute Ajax. The chief smut peddler, Lang, smokes a big cigar, quotes Mozart, and plays with head-nodder dolls and a wind-up mechanical monkey. Harmon and Sandy recruit Kim (Adults Only regular Vicki Miles [Allison Louise Downe], one of the worst actresses of all time) to be groomed as her replacement. Mal Arnold (Blood Feast's mad caterer Fuad) plays surly, menacing, violent Larry, one of Lang's salesmen and apparently world's oldest teenager ("Don't forget, I'm a minor"). Harmon convinces Kim to show "the upper half" for $500 badly-needed tuition money, and she freaks out at another shoot when they photograph her face! Kim pleads with Lang to let her out of the deal in the hilarious "straight talk" scene: he excoriates her at length ("Deep down inside you're dirty. Do you hear me, dirty! You're damaged goods, and this is a fire sale."), working up a literal lather as the camera cuts in closer and closer on his sweaty, contorted mouth. Blackmail, (implied) violence, and more G-rated porn shoots ensue before the finale, which includes a baseball bat murder, shooting, police chase, suicide, and surprise wedding engagement between Harmon and Sandy! It all sounds quite lurid on paper, but it's actually rather quaint; you really expect Wally and the Beave to stroll around the corner any second. Scum of the Earth does share a rather, um, deliberate pace and minimalist production values with Friedman/Lewis's gore movies, but delivers plenty of entertainment value for aficionados of this sort of thing. Similar to Ed Wood's Sinister Urge, but with even funnier, highly quotable dialogue.
In The Defilers (directed, photographed, and edited by Lee Frost [Love Camp 7, Chrome and Hot Leather, Incredible Two Headed Transplant, etc.]), Carl Walker Jr. and Jameison "Jim" Marsh, two bored, jaded hipster hedonists, cruise their convertible to cool jazz and neck with their big-haired, ponytailed girlfriends (four of them) on the way to the beach, where they drink, skinny-dip, make out, and frolic in the sand (lyrical EZ-listening interlude here). Sadistic misogynist Carl (Byron Mabe, director of She Freak, The Acid Eaters, etc.) demonstrates his theories about women ...by variously pinching, spanking, and cigarette-burning his girlfriend Joanie. He further elucidates, "There is only one thing in this whole crummy, square, infested life that counts. Kicks! Kicks! Kicks! You dig me?", but his rich daddy (also obviously played by Mabe in glasses and mustache) is threatening to cut him off financially if he doesn't start showing up at the office. Meanwhile, virginal blonde aspiring actress Jane Collins ("introducing Mai Jansson") arrives in Hollywood from Minnesota on a Greyhound Scenicruiser and rents a room from degenerate Mrs. Olson. In a dingy "dungeon" love nest at his father's factory, Carl spanks frosty Kathy into submission ("Don't! Stop! . . . Don't stop!"), while Jim seduces Ellen in the car ("You wanna feel my muscle? Start the countdown.") While copping from creepy Mrs. Olson, Carl and Jim meet Jane, and later, after Jim reels off a list of possible kick-producing activities ...She's kidnapped, terrorized, and assaulted, mostly by Carl, mostly off screen. Eventually the more sensitive Jim rebels, and Carl meets a gruesome end straight out of one of Friedman's gore films. Defilers plays kind of like a really kinky episode of Surfside Six or Perry Mason, Mabe is really over the top (better as an actor than director), and Jerome Eden (Blood Trilogy) as Jim occasionally bears an uncanny resemblance to Ben Stiller (!!). The violence is sporadic and not very graphic by today's standards, but still packs a bit of a jolt; gorehounds will find it very mild, while sensitive fuzzy-sweater types will probably be appropriately shocked and sickened. I found The Defilers mildly disturbing at times, but for the most part campy and entertaining, with rich early-'60s atmosphere, some screamingly funny dialogue, and Frost's crisp, moody B&W cinematography major assets.
Extras include an entertaining and informative commentary by David Friedman and Mike Vraney (apparently distributors were disappointed in Miss Jansson's "charms"); a wild trailer collection, some fun and campy (All Women Are Bad, Confessions of a Psycho Cat, Banned, Curse of Her Flesh), some REALLY sick-looking (The Pick-Up, Ultimate Degenerate), some just stupid (Sex Killer, Sock It To Me); two OK shorts, "Intimate Diary of Artist's Models" (4:00, color) featuring "Ajax" and "Sandy" from 'Scum' in standard nudie-cutie photo hijinks (see what's under Sandy's scarf!), and Naked Fury (10:00, color) wherein a photographer shoots photos of twin girls wrestling in their undies; and another 8-minute Trash-O-Rama exploitation art gallery. Prints of both features exhibit the usual light speckling and blemishing, but are otherwise plenty sharp with excellent tonal values and detail. A must-have for exploitation and Adults Only fans!

"Thriller: En Grym Film" aka "Thriller: A Cruel Picture", "They Call Her One Eye", "Hookers Revenge", etc, is one of the most sought after cult classics ever. Fans have had to tolerate blurred and wash out VHS bootlegs lacking subtitles for years, but that is all about to come to an end with this beautiful presentation of the film uncut on DVD thanks to Synapse, the company who brought us the awesome "Vampyros Lesbos" DVD among others.
First about the film for those who haven't seen it: Gorgeous Swedish cult siren Christina Lindberg plays Frigga who cannot speak after a childhood trauma. One day she misses her bus and accepts a ride and later a dinner date, from a rather shady character who kidnaps her. After getting her hooked on heroine, he forces her to work as a prostitute, and gouges her eye out when she refuses her first client. Frigga saves her money and pays for lessons in martial arts, race car driving and shooting, before taking her revenge on those cruel customers who used and abused her and her pimp.
As the title suggests this is one viciously bleak film. From the barren wind swept Swedish landscape and eerie electric score to the hard core sex scenes and eye gouge scene which was created using a real cadaver, "Thriller" is a truly potent cult shocker. A lot of the credit for the films impact must go to Lindberg for her brilliant performance. She draws the viewer in right from the beginning, making us feel her silent suffering and savor her revenge. Her color co-ordinated eye patches were later ripped off for Darryl Hannah's character in "Kill Bill", but this is the real deal. Lindberg is a truly striking and unforgettable cult figure, carrying a shotgun and dressed all in black she is enigmatic and certainly makes shameless plagiarizer Tartino's work look pale by comparison.
As mentioned above, this is the first DVD release ever. From early reports, Synapse's DVD transfer is stunning. Not to mention that they have gone all out to give fans some great extras:

I got a copy of the DVD today and though I'd add a few first hand comments to the review I'd already written now that I have personally seen the DVD. Hope it's helpful......
As soon as I opened the case I was imediately impressed with the gorgeous color insert containing linear notes and some nice photo's of sweetheart Chirstina Lindberg. The menu's on the disc were cool and exploring them I found all the great special features promised. The photo galleries were especially good, I really liked the cute shots of Christina relaxing on set in between takes.
The picture quality is great, while being overall a little soft (a few seconds seem to have being taken from a deteriated print) the colors are rich and vibrant. After only seeing the film on sloppy bootleg VHS copies, indeed viewing Synapse's DVD is as though viewing the film for the first time, stunning!
Once again, I cannot recommend this one enough.

(More customer reviews)In the tradition of "Kasumi: Lady Ninja" and the "Ninja Vixens" franchise, comes a "pink" film by director Yoshikazu Kato, called "NINJAKEN: the NAKED SWORD". If you expect a film with a lot of action packed sequences then you will be disappointed. "Ninjaken..." is an exploitive, highly erotic tale of female ninjas who use the best weapon they have at their disposal--their womanly wiles and their curvaceous bodies. This film stars AV-star, super sexy Kaede Matsushima--so do I have your attention, my fellow men?
In a time of warring states, the female ninja Murasame (Kaede Matsushima) is assigned to assassinate the rogue clan lord Daizen Osakabe who has aligned himself with the Tokugawa to betray the Taiko. Despite the odds, Murasame nearly succeeds but in the end, is almost captured and badly wounded. She flees the Daimyo's resident ninja, Akatokage, and collapses, regaining her consciousness within the walls of a mysterious convent for women. However, this "Aitokuin" convent is headed by a woman-loving abbess named Jokyo is not all that it seemsto be, the convent is only a front for a woman-trafficking brothel. A sinister plot threatens to take control of Murasame's future. Now, Murasame must use all her skills, both as a female warrior and a woman to escape a deadly web of sexual slavery and deception.
When watching a low-budget exploitive flick, one has keep the expectations low. I was expecting an erotic film full of campy action and gore; and this film isn't action-packed at all, but relies heavily on the erotic elements to stay aloft. The plot is almost none-existent as the script revolves upon just how many sequences of graphic sex it could fit in 75 minutes. The fight sequences are laughable and the story is too hollow. Honestly, the only way to appreciate this film is by comparing it to other Japanese erotic films of this kind--just how does it measure up?
Well, if you're curious just how many exploitive scenes there are on this film, then the movie stacks up well and exceeds "Ninja Vixens". The sex scenes are very erotically charged and there are quite a good number of them. The scenes are also long and arousing--Kaede Matsushima is an AV idol and a nude model, so it is always fun to see her in an exploitive film. The supporting cast is mostly made up of beautiful Japanese women; Hiromi Suzuki, Kyoko Kazama and Mari Yamaguchi and none of them are shy to shed their clothes. There is no full frontal nudity but the only thing covering up Kaede Matsushima's (and the other women) sensitive female parts is a man's hand while he treats himself. Oh, there is no "blurring" in the crotch areas, so you get to see all the "action".
The film also has its share of silly "punch lines" but delivers them with a straight face. I cannot divulge any of them but let's just say that it expresses something about a weapon, pleasure, and a hole to hide a small dagger. There are a lot of girl-on-girl action and sexual torture that is a little disturbing but at the same time, exciting. Kaede Matsushima's "training" sequences may be the film's biggest draw. The scenes are very graphic and trumps on most softcore films. So why did I spend 75 minutes to watch this? I was curious as to how Matsushima can handle herself in a non-AV affair.. (right!)
Japanese feudal tales have often told of female assassins who use their sexuality as a weapon, they are dispatched to murder feudal lords; this film is just part of that premise. "Naked Sword" is low-budget affair, with a plot which is almost none-existent--and I still await a great film that would explore the world of a female assassin than one that focuses on eroticism and exploitive elements. Female ninjas played a huge part of the feudal wars, and deserves a better movie than one that borders on porn. I guess it may take longer for us to see a sexy, suspenseful female ninja film; this film doesn't deliver any action or thrills at all--but as an erotic, exploitive "pink" flick this film will not disappoint. If you want some pervy kicks, then this film may be for you, plus, it does have Kaede Matsushima.

(More customer reviews)If the gentle sensuality of beautiful women strolling around a nudist camp is enough to make you smile, you'll likely enjoy "Hideout in the Sun", a good example of the "nudie cutie" genre of the late 1950's and early 60's. "Nudie cuties" were exploitation flicks that played it safe by observing the letter of the law of the period, which essentially said that nudity in itself wasn't obscene, as long as sexual content- real or implied- wasn't part of the mix, too. After all, I'm sure it was reasoned, why produce outright pornography and risk getting shut down by those pesky local community standards when you can just make something like "Hideout in the Sun" and sell almost as many tickets?
Like "Hideout in the Sun", many "nudie cuties" were set in- where else?- nudist camps, as they're among the limited amount of places where one could credibly depict extended scenes of nudity that obstensibly had nothing to do with sex. Other examples of this undeniably picturesque but bizarre genre include "Diary of a Nudist" and "The Monster of Camp Sunshine", which is an honest-to-God nudist horror movie (and an extreme hoot, to boot).
Most "nudie cuties" at least go through the motions of delivering some kind of plot (again, to protect against charges of producing unlawful sex fare). This one features a bank heist plot, with the two heisters eventually taking refuge in a Miami-area nudist camp after their original getaway plans (which involve escaping to Cuba, which tells you how old this movie is), turn sour. The movie actually turns kind of sweet after that, as one of the crooks starts regretting his criminal ways and falls for a fetching redhead at the camp.
As said at the outset, if you can look past the strictly Ed Wood-style production values (or at least enjoy laughing at them), and just sit back and enjoy the pretty nude women walking around, lounging, and talking to one another (really, that's all they do), you'll get some modest pleasure out of this glimpse into this long-extinct genre. However, one has to laugh and wonder what poor raincoat-crowd types thought of all this back in 1960. They likely bought a ticket hoping for some honest adults-only fare and ended up getting endless scenes of the crooks' car driving around Miami before and after the heist, no sexual content at all in the actual nude scenes, and to top it all off, a long, laughably filmed "action sequence" at the end where one crook (the unrepentant one, of course) is chased by the cops into one of those roadside reptile zoos they have all over Florida and ends up fending off both cops and poisonous snakes, which inexplicably are slithering around free inside the zoo. So much for titillation.
This nice little DVD package offers a full-screen print of the film on disc one, a widescreen print on disc two, samplings of other exploitation fare of the period (some fairly sexual, some generally innocent like the main feature), an interview or two, and an interesting commentary track by an expert/enthusiast of the "nudie cutie" genre. "Hideout in the Sun" itself looks pretty good for a film that made heavy rounds on the exploitation circuit, though there are occasional bad splices and sound dropouts. If fringe cinema of years past interests you, however, don't let these small flaws stop you from ordering this bucolic curiosity.
I'm sure "Hideout in the Sun" was filmed with a cynical eye towards cashing in on local rubes' desire to see something a little naughty, but, watching the movie, one can't help but feel that the filmmakers- once the cameras were rolling- gave themselves over to honestly documenting the innocent, playful sensuality of the nudist camp and its denizens. I say this because the middle section of the film gets into a nice little "naturist groove", and you'll probably start feeling the peacefulness and relaxation of the camp's residents yourself. I know I did. Not a bad little bonus from a silly exploitation film, huh?

Deitrich (producer of a dozen Jess Franco 70's sleaze flix, and I don't mean that in a bad way) to re-invent Nazisploitation by offering us an upbeat comedy version of an atrocious chapter in wartime history. In this 1973 cheesecake, the Nazis are of the Sargeant Schultz variety as they take on the Russians near the front. The frauleins are all cute Eurobabes who act like they're members of a select sorority at a summer camp or glee club, eager to 'please' anything or anyone for the Nazi Party, and I do mean party. They're all so happy, upbeat and obliging it's hysterical. It's like 'Springtime For Hitler' all over again. What makes it different is that there is no torture, rape, shower scenes, coersion or abhorent conditions here, all of the cliches are done away with - it's like 'Hogan's Heroes' with abundant nudity. One of my favorite lines (and their were a few) spoken by one of the babes to another, "If worse comes to worst, spread your legs, the regime always needs more soldiers". Cheezy, breezy and super sleazy, these frauleins spend more time in birthday suits than in uniform, and that 'suits' me fine...
