Bald (2008) Review

Met expectations as I had none, but when the credits rolled I was actually getting some laughs out of it.
The story follows a college kid who suffers premature balding, so to raise some money he and his buddies use all of the hot chicks they can find to perform certain acts on the Internet. All while this plundering of sight gags and bad jokes occur, we get to hear the thoughts of our cast. I enjoy the thought thing with Ally or Scrubs, but this was irritating. If you are watching this for the prolific viewage of a certain area of female anatomy, watch the first ten minutes as they mostly disappear after that.
The cover art contains all of the gals not in the film, and the main guy is David Schwimmer's twin so I have had customers asking about the film thinking it is actually a young him (it is not). The short supplement is quasi-funny as the cast/crew try to describe this film yet make it sound interesting. The funniest part would be the end credits as they include the bloopers - better and more natural than the movie. The sound and picture are fine, and admittedly I cannot think of another lowbrow comedy where we get the POV shot of a lady squating onto a guys face - unique.
Skipper all the way.

Loose Screws: Screwballs II (1985) Review

Loose Screws: Screwballs II (1985)

Well, I saw Screwballs and after being very pleased with that movie, I recently purchased Loose Screws a.k.a. Screwballs II. It was a good sequel. The humor was more juvenile and the plot wasn't as creative, but the movie did entertain. But as with most Hollywood sequels, this one did not exceed the entertainment value of the first movie and should be rated for its own entertainmnt value - which it earned a generously respectable rating. If anyone is an 80's comedy completionist who also enjoys a fun movie, then Loose Screws: Screwballs II is the right movie to purchase. The acting is definitely not that great, but these actors are not in this movie for an Oscar nomination. They are in it to entertain viewers, which they succeeded at very well in my opinion.

What Women Want (2000) Review

What Women Want (2000)

This is a very formulatic romantic comedy, but it shines largely in part to the performance of Mel Gibson. It takes someone very confident in his masculinity to put on a bra, paint his nails, and put on pantyhose all in the name of comedy. When he is suddenly struck with the gift to hear what women think, it is almost karmic destiny in retribution for his playboy ways of the past. When the shoe is on the other foot, and he sees first hand what is dealt to the fairer sex, it changes him profoundly.
