OK, briefly, women's prison movie, two guys show up, they help the girls escape, kill warden, the end. Franco, so that means a lot of silly camera effects, but no red and green lights this time. I think that about covers it.
The most interesting thing about this particular version is that everyone is topless, all the prisoners, most of the guards and even the (female) warden, all the time. Aside from lingerie, they don't even appear to own tops! There's a lot of R sex and nudity, and that's about it, practically no torture or whipping (which, considering Franco's lack of skill in filming such scenes is probably a blessing). There's also a lot that makes no sense, like, what exactly is the topless chain gang trying to accomplish hacking at the soil most of the way through the picture? And why, after all their breasts get dirty from working all day, is there no shower scene? There should be ten shower scenes in this thing, it looked pretty hot and sweaty to me, wherever it was filmed. Of course, the main purpose of shower scenes is to display some nudity, and there's no need for an excuse here, this looks like a nudie parody of a women's prison film.
Well, never mind, picking at a Franco film is a pretty empty exercise, but there's really not much here for fans of sex sleaze, despite the screaming DVD box descriptions, as usual. There's one minor pinning the medal on the prisoner (no shirt and no medal), but it pales next to the "Wicked Warden" pin scene. But all those swinging and bouncing boobs . . . we'll have to give it two stars for the NTRL factor alone (nudity to total running length), which is about 98%, a record.

Marquis De Sade: Dark Prince (1997) Review

Marquis De Sade: Dark Prince (1997)

Im fed up! I can't rely on the movie industry to put out a reasonable, (purely)fact-based representation of the Marquis' life!I actually had high hopes for this movie bacause it was said to be based on the true story. SORRY! TRY AGAIN! I was apalled!Bad acting, bad directing, horrible story line, and low budget. Thats not even all of it. When are the creators of movies going to realize that enough happened in his life that its not even nessesary to make things up? Theres no way in [heck] that the things that happen in this movie could have happened, so why proclaim it "based on a true story"? It's clear to me this is not so, and that he is merely a character in a line of events (so distorted and rearanged!) based on a loose description of De Sades' life (with some conveinient changes).I'm sorry, but I thought this movie was atrocious, and I once again wait to see a biographical movie worthy to carry his name.

Bare Behind Bars (1980) Review

Bare Behind Bars (1980)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am not a fan of WIP (Women-In-Prison) movies. Generally I find them numbingly boring and falling far short of their sensationalistic claims. My preference in WIP movies is for hard and nasty scenes. Oswaldo De Oliveira's "Bare Behind Bars" goes the opposite route, highlighting camp and comedy. Given its limitations, it is still miles above the normal drivel. However, like other WIP movies, it doesn't live up top its promise of "brutal beatings, steamy showers, vicious violence and savage sexuality."
It is more laugh-out-loud funny than erotic. It is very tongue-in-cheek and doesn't take itself seriously for an instant. The acting is deliberately bad, over-the-top and cartoonish. And that is actually its saving grace, because it makes you laugh at the silliness of it all. Just sample the scene of the horny inmates using a makeshift pulley to slowly winch a dildo in between their cells at night. Or the wacky ether-addicted nurse who tries to take the Warden's blood pressure by wrapping the cuff around her neck. Or her buttock-grinding scene with her inmate lover which culminates with her introduction of the infamous pineapple dildo.
Thankfully the women in this prison are almost all deliciously hot and spend most of the time happily naked. And that includes the guards. My favorite here is the blond second-in-command. Sadly she doesn't have a sex scene of her own. To top it off, this version comes with hardcore elements fully integrated into the whole. On the downside, most of the scenes which should have been sleazy or degrading are here played only for laughs. The two "full-cavity searches" are more funny than erotic. The whipping scenes are so mechanical and perfunctory as to be devoid of any eroticism. The "steamy showers" are more like shower parties. The only violence of real standing are the two instances of sliced penises, one thrown to the dog, the other stuffed into its former owner's mouth. Now, that was worth watching.
The X-rating is justified. We are treated to blowjobs, dildo insertions, strapon action, amd full penetrative sex.
Blue Underground has done a beautiful restoration of this 25 year old film and presents it in its original widescreen aspect of 1.66:1 with anamorphic enhancement. Colors are rich, vibrant and accurate. The picture is sharp and richly detailed. Only an English-dub mono soundtrack has been provided. No other soundtracks are included although the actors are most likely speaking Portuguese and poor lip-synching is very evident throughout. Offering less than what was advertised and less than what I expected, it nevertheless was a fun and enjoyable romp. As a piece of camp cinema it's definitely worth at least a rental.

In a women's penitentiary where brutal beatings, steamy showers, and full cavity searches are the order of the day, the cons are turning into pros - and the cemetery is running out of room! To stay out of the torture chamber, the inmates can barter their bodies in the wicked warden's white slave trade, or submit to the nympho nurse's peculiar brand of medical malpractice. But when these lawless lovelies go on the lam to wreak vengeance on straight society, no one will be safe!Prolific purveyor of perversion Oswaldo De Oliveira's (AMAZON JAIL) piece de resistance is presented here in its X-Rated entirety. A cornucopia of comely convicts (including International beauty queen Marta Anderson of MASSACRE IN DINOSAUR VALLEY and PERVERSION Scream Queen Nadia Destro) bare it all, as every frame of vicious violence, savage sexuality, and inappropriate use of pineapples, is presented pristine and intact for the first time ever in America!Extras include Theatrical Trailer

Justine De Sade (1972) Review

Justine De Sade (1972)
Average Reviews:

This film just misses hitting the mark in so many ways. There are the whipping scenes which are good...but the sex scenes are weak. Especially when the monks begin to rape the victim, they wear cloaks over themselves so you see absolutely nothing. The women are hot, especially the star of the film, Alice Arno. The background classical music is especially grand and makes the whole film appear to be more elegant than one would expect from this subject matter.
The dialog is tame compared to what they "should have been saying" while they were abusing these women. I would have liked to see more realistic pain and suffering...especially when you consider this is a Marquis DeSade film!
All in all, it was quite entertaining for Capt. Freaky. And I do recommend watching it if you get an opportunity. There are moments when your girlfriend may 'dampen her shorts'....and if so, 'go for it' with her while you can! There are no guarantee's that what you are looking at will get any better in future sequences, when you are watching this French farce.

Salon Kitty (1977) Review

Salon Kitty (1977)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all, there is no "sexual perversion" or "sexual atrocities" in this film. But it IS brought to you by the director of "Caligula". "Salon Kitty" is a very lush, very raunchy and very graphic sexploitation film set in 1939 Europe about an SS officer who converts a popular brothel into a spy operation staffed with specially trained and selected girls. The madam, Kitty (Ingrid Thulin), doesn't understand why she had to relocate and restaff and is unaware of the covert goings on. It supposedly is being done to blackmail certain officials but this kind've takes a back seat to the nudity and sexual cavorting. The officer (Helmut Berger) is a twisted and tortured soul---incapable of any sort of sexual relations or relationships. The heroine, prostitute Margarita (Teresa Ann Savoy), looks innocent but is capable of handling the most demanding situations imaginable. She ends up cluing Kitty into what's going on and helping bust the whole thing open. Nazi symbols are everywhere (even on garters!) and some scenes are mind-boggling in their silliness. At times I was wondering if the whole thing was a satire. But some non-sexual scenes (like the slaughterhouse) are repellent in the extreme. The costumes are extravagant and beautiful and suited to the decadence of the brothel. Miss Kitty's song numbers (oh yes, she performs, too) are a bit much in their Dietrich-esque sultriness. Thulin resembles an aging drag queen as she carries on in her over-the-top costumes and blonde wigs. Savoy is pretty (and looks disturbingly too young) but cannot act for love nor money. And she has chances at both in this film. Berger is all pomp and starch as the officer. He's believable. You wonder if he's gay at times. He refuses the services of Kitty's girls but tries with Savoy. It's unpleasant because he's too cold and too far gone. The sex in "Salon Kitty" IS rather repulsive but there's ample male and female nudity for voyeurs. The soundtrack is good---with appropriately decadent music and song numbers suited to the period and place. The DVD print is mostly good but ranges from too dark in some scenes to quite vivid in others. Overall, it's watchable with plenty of extras and a second disc all about "Salon Kitty". A collector's item for those with a taste for this sort of thing. Just be careful who you show it to. It's very strange stuff.

Berlin, 1939: At the dawn of World War II, power-mad SS Officer Wallenberg (Helmut Berger of THE DAMNED) is ordered to find and train Germany's most beautiful women to work in the opulent brothel of Madam Kitty (Ingrid Thulin of CRIES AND WHISPERS). Here these Nazi nymphs will submit to the bizarre passions and carnal degradations of the Reich's highest-ranking men and women while Wallenberg secretly records their acts for blackmail. But when an innocent young prostitute (Teresa Ann Savoy of CALIGULA) uncovers the conspiracy, her revenge will ignite a holocaust of pain, pleasure and shocking sexual perversion. The story is true. The depravity is real. The film is SALON KITTY.John Steiner (MANNAJA), Tina Aumont (TORSO) and John Ireland (RED RIVER) co-star in this infamous epic co-written and directed by Tinto Brass and featuring exquisite production design by OscarAE winner Ken Adam (BARRY LYNDON, GOLDFINGER). Released in America as the heavily censored MADAM KITTY, this controversial shocker has been fully restored from the director's own personal vault print and features extended scenes of sexual atrocities now presented for the first time ever.

The Blind Dead Collection (Tombs of the Blind Dead/The Ghost Galleon/Return of the Evil Dead/Night of the Seagulls/Amando De Ossorio) (1977) Review

The Blind Dead Collection (Tombs of the Blind Dead/The Ghost Galleon/Return of the Evil Dead/Night of the Seagulls/Amando De Ossorio) (1977)

(More customer reviews)
Finally us Eurohorror fans get something to sink our teeth into, a complete 5 disc box set featuring all four Blind Dead films together for the first time!
The first disc is Tombs of the Blind Dead. If you owned (I said "owned" because hopefully you've sold it by the time this box set comes out) the previous double feature release by Anchor Bay Entertainment, forget all about is as this disc blows their version away. Now you don't only have to watch it in in Spanish with English subtitles as you can choose to watch English dubbed or subtitled versions. Some people prefer subtitles and some prefer dubbing, and Blue Underground Entertainment has graciously allowed both options to please fans. The special features include the alternate opening sequence entitled "REVENGE OF THE PLANET APE" as well as the English theatrical trailer and a Poster/Still gallery.
The second disc is "Return of the Evil Dead", and again it is much better than the original Anchor Bay release. That version you can only watched dubbed, but here you can watch it subtitled or dubbed. The Anchor Bay version was also not the complete version of the film. Blue Underground's new release is FULLY UNCUT for the first time on DVD! The extras include the U.S. & Spanish Theatrical trailers and a sill gallery.
The third disc is the highly antisipated third entry into the series entitled "The Ghost Galleon". The version released in those ultra crappy "Brentwood" value pack (Die Hard "Blind Dead" fans know what I'm taking about) under the title "Zombie Flesh Eater" was literally unwatchable so this it's no wonder fans have been drooling over this release. Inludes a still gallery and the U.S. Horror of the Zombies Triler, TV Spots and Radio Spots. Sadly this one is only dubbed in English. Oh well, you can't have it all.
The fourth disc is the fourth and final film in the series "Night of the Seagulls". Again there is NO COMPARISON to the original Brentwood value pack version entitled Night of the Deathcult. That was an unacceptable version. I'm glad to see it properly released domestically. Includes the theatrical trailer and a still gallery.
The fifth disc entitled AMANDO DE OSSORIO - DIRECTOR, is only avaiable in this box set. It includes to fan pleasing documentaries entitled "The Last Templar - Documentary on Writer/Director Amando de Ossorio" and "Unearthing the Blind Dead - Interview with Writer/Director Amando de Ossorio". For the DVD-Rom it includes another documetnary entitled "Farewell to Spain's Knight of Horror". Great disc to please us die hard fans.
Please sell your old Anchor Vay Double Feature of Tombs of the Blind Dead and Return of the Blind Dead while its still worth money as when this box set hits the stores, no one will want it. Believe me, this set is WELL worth getting, and it even comes in a coffin shaped box!! To top it off, a 40 page booklet is included which gives all the info Blind Dead fans ever wanted!
Other info: Color * Dolby Digital Mono * 16x9 * 537 Mins * Not Rated * Region Code: 1 * Tombs Of The Blind Dead & Return Of The Evil Dead: 1.66:1 * Ghost Galleon & Night Of The Seagulls: 1.85:1
