(More customer reviews)This is THE video to get for your little elmo fanatic! My 22 month old son can't seem to get enough of Sesame Street, especially Elmo. I bought this video to quench his never ending thirst for more Elmo and hit PAYDIRT!
This is isn't necessarily an educational video but it is tons of fun! The songs are great and Elmo is prominent throughout. It was even fun enough that I happily watch it with him (I usually take advantage of 'video time' to get chores done).
If your going to let your children watch t.v., Sesame Street is the wat to go. Normally don't advocate t.v. watching for children, but there is something special about Sesame Street that I make an exception for. My son has learned to count to ten, alot of the alphabet, and other miscellaneous things through a combination of myself and Sesame Street. For example, He recognizes letters and numbers when they come up on a video. When used as a supplement by parents (not a substitute), I think Sesame Street can be a useful (& fun) learning tool!

Sesame Street - Do the Alphabet Review

(More customer reviews)We own this on DVD, purchased for a few bucks only--about all it is worth. We own most of the Sesame Street videos, including all the various "clips" collections like this one. I have to say "Do the Alphabet" is only one step above the dreadful "Elmocize." Okay, so I'm not the target audience--but my kids don't really care for it either!
From the worst period in Sesame Street production (in my opinion)--the late 80s/early 90s-- this video features Baby Bear trying to learn the alphabet in one day, so he can one-up the annoying Goldilocks (I kind of miss her, actually--she was at least comical, whereas contemporary Zoe is just bratty in an unamusing way).
Songs from Billy Joel and whatnot date this one--the best part is the "classic" Sesame clips, such as the Ernie/Cookie monster song about D (gotta love it!).
The most amusement I get from this DVD is that it stands out as one of the few muppet-involved videos when you can actually SEE the PUPPETEER! Watch Prairie Dawn during the "You Can Say The Alphabet" song . . . the crate and the kids do not quite cover the puppeteer's hand and head. You can see them over and over--something very rare in Sesame Street videos!
Bored parents can also watch for the rare sight of some of the Sesame kids arguing during a segment--watch Michael and the other boy when the kids are doing their letter "exercises"--too funny. Who was directing this? Had they stopped caring?
My kids, now age 5 and 3, would rank this very low for entertainment value. WE only pull it out when we've "done" the other Sesame Street videos to death. If you're shopping for a Sesame Street fan, go for one of the anniversary celebrations or the good ol' "Best of" tapes like "Best of Elmo," "Cookie Monster's Best Bites" etc.
I need to add here that I consider myself a big Sesame Street fan--I grew up with it, bought the "classic" tapes even before I had kids (does that make me a weirdo?), raised my kids on it. From babyhood, my kids knew their letters, numbers, shapes, colors, etc. very well, and Sesame Street had a big part in that. I love their work and love to see a well-produced, well-written Sesame tape. This just isn't one.

Sesame Street - Let's Make Music (1969) Review

(More customer reviews)Hurray for Sesame Street! They've made yet another video that appeals to all ages. Like many toddlers, the children in our household tend to watch the same video over and over and over again. They seem to thrive on repetition which is wonderful for their learning and growing (albeit sometimes a little irritating for the "older" family members). By including the rythmic geniuses of the Stomp! crew, they've managed to capture the attention and creativity of the toddlers and entertain the rest of the family as well.
Their use of simple, everyday objects as musical instruments was particularly appealing, especially in these days of heavy commercialism. We also enjoyed the dancing and the familiar Sesame Street characters. This video invites participation so there's no need to worry about the "couch potato effect."
"Let's Make Music" is our family favorite!

Sesame Street: 123 Count With Me (2010) Review

(More customer reviews)When Ernie drops by "The Furry Arms" hotel to return a missing key he found, he ends up giving everyone a lesson in counting, and also ends up getting hired as hotel manager! Ernie soon discovers that when he "Dings The Dinger", Benny The Bunny (Kevin Clash-who also does Elmo) will bring him something different everytime, depending on the number of times he dings. For example, when Ernie dings 3 times, Benny brings 3 pillows. Ernie however, does not need the pillows, and tells Benny he's glad he now knows what happens when he dings 3 times. This running gag goes during the entire video, and it gets quite funny. Most of the segments in this video are well chosen, such as a neat segment with singing crows, and the fantastic "Honk Around The Clock"! I also find the new songs very catchy, and have found myself sing them quite often! This not only gets five stars becalse it's much better then "The Great Numbers Game", but also becalse it's extremely funny! In recent years, The Furry Arms seems to have been deleted from the show. Why? It was such a great place, and I liked Natasha's parents having a job! Oh, well. At least we have this video!
