The Voice is a long awaited DVD that includes interviews on consciousness, enlightenment, what happens after death, how we reach mystical states of awareness and so much more. Never before have I seen such a diversity of experts including scientists, mystics, representatives from various religions, lay people, etc. all coming together to present their many faceted answers to some of life's deepest questions. If you are a spiritual seeker, or a person seeking to blend science and spirituality, this DVD will assist you on your journey, give you so much more to explore, and help validate the stirrings in your own heart and mind. A fantastic film for anyone seeking to expand their understanding of human consciousness. And while you're at it, check out their cool website too...www.voiceentertainment.com.

Now this piece is for those who are interested in Eschatology (end time studies). Science and technology are being used for a specific purpose and this DVD will open your eyes to what the bible has spoken of over 2500 years ago. It's an excellent tool for witnessing to the soon return Jesus Christ! If you liked the movies Patriot Games and Enemy of the State, you will be able to see the truth of future events as described in the bible and how it is unfolding today right before our eyes! It's time to wake up and see the prophecies because I.D. chips are not just for your pets!

Luna: Spirit of the Whale (2007) Review

Luna: Spirit of the Whale (2007)
Average Reviews:

When his father dies, Mike Maquinna (Adam Beach) returns to his tribe for the funeral. The problem is, the band and his Mom (Tantoo Cardinal) expect him to stay and become Chief. He left the reservation for good reasons--to get a job and to sober up. He's not real sure he can come back.
Then, the whale shows up. According to Bill (Graham Greene) the orca is the spirit of Mike's father. Mike isn't sure, but he knows the tribe has to save the whale and possibly save it from the machinations of the Canadian fisheries Department.
This story is based on a true tale. The acting is superlative, what can you say about Beach, Greene, and Cardinale that hasn't already been said? The scenery is gorgeous, too. The film was made in the Vancouver, BC area and no place is as gorgeous. The movie is clearly made for television. You can see the rough cuts between scenes, which is pretty distracting to the flow of the story. In addition, teh soundtrack is a disappointment. Plus, the music is occasionally overmodulated and too loud to know what is going on.

The brilliant pacing and sophisticated filming of this documentary only allow the humanity of the characters to come through all the more clearly and touchingly. The potential of community action (here, through the lens of a New York yoga studio and the visit of a master yoga teacher) to guide people through even the most devastating of events comes through as a major lesson of this important documentary. I recommend it to everyone, even or especially those who are not yoga practitioners. Great work!

Doomsday 2012 DVD (2009) Review

Doomsday 2012 DVD (2009)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This film makes a worth-while addition to the series of films about ancient and recent prophecies regarding the alleged end of days on December 21, 2012. It certainly makes better viewing than the recent fictional film 2012. This one does not give much screen time to Nostradamus; that has been done in the History Channel film of that name. Since I have reviewed that DVD elsewhere on Amazon, I won't dwell on it here. This film DOOMSDAY 2012 stands on its own merits because it introduces information not touched upon in the former film -- e.g., the real Merlin called Myrddin in the Welsh, the sylbils from ancient Greece and Rome, and even a computer program called WEB BOT, which inadvertently made predictions about 9/11 and 2012 it was not originally created to make. This film also gives more attention to The Revelations of St. John in the Bible.
Of course, we have heard or read about the predictions of the star-gazing Mayans, the Hopis, the Egyptians, and the Masons. Persons we may not have heard about are such characters as Mother Shipton (Ursula Southill) and a real-life seer named Myrddin, perhaps the basis for the fictional Merlin in the King Arthur stories. It also gives needed attention to the ancient Chinese oracle the I Ching, a system of divination that pre-dates the others we have heard about. In fact, this film consults (no pun intended) just about every oracle except the Tarot and the Runes.
The filming of these programs is astonishingly well-done and credit should be given to the efforts of the producers and cinematographers. Credit should also be given to this program in particular for including the skeptics who want to share their "rational" perspectives on this topic. These are quality productions, not throwaway cheap-o commercial efforts like those we have seen, even theatrically, in the past. Footage from various quarters is well-chosen and skillfully included to aid the interviews with the experts on both side of the controversy.
When I showed this DVD to some Chinese students recently, I was aware of some wide-eyed reactions. One young lady, noted for her insightful comments in my classes, asked me if I believed that this could happen. I was hesitant to answer because I am aware of the impact that statements made by a professor can have. I told her that I thought the evidence was credible and well-presented -- convincing enough as an argument. As this and other programs have emphasized, we have choices. Being aware of these choices gives us the responsibility to try to influence actions that will benefit all mankind. What else can I say -- that I am totally convinced that the world will end on December 21, 2012? I am not. Do I think that significant changes may occur that may alter our existence as we know it? I think it is a distinct possibility. We have seen some of these events already -- earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, tidal waves, global warming indications, a sink hole opening up in Guatemala, a chunk of Antarctica the size of Rhode Island (exactly as predicted in the fictional film THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW) falling into the ocean. I grew up on the Mississippi River and saw what flood devastation could do. I saw what the waterfront of St. Louis looked like after it had been inundated. I have seen flooding in south Georgia (in the US), and the images of floating coffins after graveyards had been violated by torrents of water will also remain in my memory.
I cannot help but remember how frightened many people were about what would happen to worldwide computers at the end of 1999. I remember seeing people loading up their carts with water in the food markets. I also remember what a graduate professor once told me when I was writing about the lost continent of Atlantis and apocalyptic literature regarding the many times that the end of the world had been predicted in the past, which is also mentioned in this film. As she put it, many people don't want to consider the fact that the world might continue long after they are gone -- an interesting perspective, I thought.
However, it is apparent to many of us that to ignore the possibilities of future world-wide devastation is naive.
Then again, remaining naive is what we do best, isn't it? After all, it beats thinking every time.

It is a doomsday that is foretold in the Mayan calendar, the Chinese oracle of the I Ching...even in an Internet-based prophetic software program: December 21st, 2012. Is there any truth to the prophecy that the world will end on that specific date? And why do so many oracles throughout history seem to point to that same dreaded doomsday? This fascinating special cuts through the myths and offers a fact-based examination of the Doomsday prophecy. Also included is a bonus documentary: MAYAN DOOMSDAY PROPHECY which delves even deeper into meaning behind the Mayans and their apocalyptic calendar.

This 3 DVD set is a wonderful expression of the love and wisdom that Abraham shares through Esther Hicks. The love, kindness, patience, humor and the beauty of their non-judgment is apparent in every question answered. The unwavering gentleness that accompanies every answer soothes the nervous and breathes life into the answers we already knew at our core. If you've read the books, listened to the tapes or attended a workshop, the answers sound familiar and ring true as you vibrate in harmony with the message. You can literally SEE the relief on the faces of the people. SEE the joy, the recognition, the remembering if you will and it is truly a beautiful shared experience. If you have attended workshops before, you will have this treasure to enjoy over and over again. If you have not yet had the chance, rest assured that absolutely NOTHING is lost in the translation. A very worth while purchase. Thank you Esther, Jerry and Abraham.

Everything Is Spiritual Review

Everything Is Spiritual
Average Reviews:

Who would have thought that a lecture on Creation stories and Quantum Physics would be so instrumental in conveying the truth of a holistic perspective of spirituality?
As one who has been trying to introduce the perception of spirituality being interwoven with every facet of life, I would say that this DVD is far more effective in conveying that message to audiences unfamiliar with the concept than I realized. Though, I feel the subject could have been presented more effectively in my perspective, it would seem that once again, this beloved speaker finds resonance with his audience; leaving them in the lap of revelation.
I'd say that Nooma is like a piece of candy and this is like a steak dinner, yet somehow the Nooma videos tend to pack a little more punch and cater to more discussion. This is sort of done when it's done. The discussion will happen, but unlike the Nooma DVDs, this DVD doesn't come along with a discussion guide.
Brilliant stuff. Excellent revelation as one would expect. Yet I write as one who has been anticipating this for nearly a year and a half, so it might be that my expectations were overly titillated.

In the Hebrew scriptures there is no word for 'spiritual.' And Jesus never used the phrase 'spiritual life.'Why?Because for Jesus and his tradition, all of life is spiritual. But what does that really mean?

Priest (1995) Review

Priest (1995)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
At its core, "Priest" is a thoughtful examination of faith, conscience, and feeling and how those concepts can sometimes conflict with dogma, ideology, and tradition ... more simply put, spirituality versus religion. As a long-term associate of an Interfaith agency (and someone who deals with persons from many different faith communities), I found the characters and plot realistic, and was gratified that the script offered no easy answers to the dilemmas it presented. Real life is often messy; the film demonstrates that there are times when an ideal moral choice is neither clear nor even possible, and that a religious calling does not exempt one from the temptations and foibles of being human. These same tensions have been approached (usually as subplots) in many films over the years, including "The Song of Bernadette" (1943), "The Keys of the Kingdom" (1945), and "The Left Hand of God" (1955); "Priest" pushes the envelope by exploring these themes in the context of sexual situations within the Church.
The DVD transfer is beautiful, offering clear and crisp video and sound. The film features a superb performance by Linus Roache, and some very artful editing (with the exception of a couple of spots in which it's obvious that scenes have been snipped by the censors' scissors). I would have liked a few extras on the DVD, like an interview with the director and/or screenwriter, and perhaps some balanced coverage of the controversy the film has generated since its release. A theatrical trailer would also have been welcome. (How was this volatile film marketed, both in the USA and abroad?)
These missing features aside, this movie (to date) is not frequently screened on US cable or broadcast television, and I welcomed the opportunity to see it, and to be moved by it.

Be Still (2006) Review

Be Still (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Silence used to be the norm, but in the last 50 years it has become the exception; now we have to create a special time and place to experience silence...and "still the constant noise" that surrounds us. And if we want to grow in our walk with the Lord, it's crucial that we do so. For those who long with all their hearts for more than a Sunday only kind of Christianity, but don't know how quite to start, this DVD has some wonderful guidance, that will spark the light within you.
Jesus is the core and substance of this documentary, and His Word the source. I fail to comprehend the Pharisaic mentality that would find the teaching in this DVD to be heretical, but as Quaker author Richard Foster says, "It's much easier for people to debate the Bible than to submit to it." All the teachers, pastors, and authors interviewed for this documentary have wisdom to impart, making this film a good investment of your time.
"Be Still" is not only a good source for those seeking to learn on their own, but would also be an excellent tool for small study groups to use, and for pastors and Bible teachers as well. One of the 7 chapters of the DVD is on "Small Groups," and gives ideas on how to use contemplative prayer in a gathering of believers.
WARNING: The DVD has a very peculiar set-up. My only complaint of this documentary is that it does not have a "Play All" option, and one must keep the remote close at hand. The 1st chapter is approximately 55 minutes long, and has a long list of credits after it, making one think that "this is all there is," and stop the DVD. Wrong! There are about 40 minutes more in the subsequent 6 chapters.
"The Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him." Habakkuk 2:20
