Vanished (2001) Review

Vanished (2001)
Average Reviews:

I have watched all of Cloud Ten's end time movies. While none of them were stellar, this one was abysmal. It seemed like it was John Hagee's effort to showcase himself, more than anything else, by calling it a documentary. It was a bottom dweller when it came to production values, using recycled clips from Apocolypse more than new footage. It completely lacked both plot and character development. If it was to be a documentary, then it should have had some scripture to it. If Hagee's preaching is as lean on scripture as this film is, then I think I will skip ever watching that the same as I advise skipping this waste-of-time. There are plenty of halfway decent films out there for sharing with friends about the end times, but this one is totally worthless.

The Christmas Story Lady Review

The Christmas Story Lady

Beware - this one is not what it appears to be! It is a good movie and one that I would recommend HOWEVER, it is a movie that has been retitled. The original title is "The Story Lady". This is just a warning not to be fooled as I was believing it was a Christmas squeal as the movie has nothing to do about Christmas. Thus the reason why the title fooled me, that and they changed the movie description!

Everything Is Spiritual Review

Everything Is Spiritual
Average Reviews:

Who would have thought that a lecture on Creation stories and Quantum Physics would be so instrumental in conveying the truth of a holistic perspective of spirituality?
As one who has been trying to introduce the perception of spirituality being interwoven with every facet of life, I would say that this DVD is far more effective in conveying that message to audiences unfamiliar with the concept than I realized. Though, I feel the subject could have been presented more effectively in my perspective, it would seem that once again, this beloved speaker finds resonance with his audience; leaving them in the lap of revelation.
I'd say that Nooma is like a piece of candy and this is like a steak dinner, yet somehow the Nooma videos tend to pack a little more punch and cater to more discussion. This is sort of done when it's done. The discussion will happen, but unlike the Nooma DVDs, this DVD doesn't come along with a discussion guide.
Brilliant stuff. Excellent revelation as one would expect. Yet I write as one who has been anticipating this for nearly a year and a half, so it might be that my expectations were overly titillated.

In the Hebrew scriptures there is no word for 'spiritual.' And Jesus never used the phrase 'spiritual life.'Why?Because for Jesus and his tradition, all of life is spiritual. But what does that really mean?

Cowboys and Angels (2001) Review

Cowboys and Angels (2001)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
'Cowboys and Angels' is a sweet, tender love story about one man's search for the girl of his dreams. Danny (Adam Trese) has been left standing at the altar and begins to doubt if true love really exists. Unexpectedly two attractive women soon come into his life (Mia Kirshner and Radha Mitchell) and before long he must decide which woman is the one fated to become his wife. What he doesn't realize is that angelic forces are present and subtlely guiding him to make the right decision.
I love this movie! Mia Kirshner is absolutely gorgeous as Candice, she is fast becoming one of my favorite actresses. This is a film that can be enjoyed by everyone, old and young, so watch it with your entire family.
Warning to Cowboy Movie Fans: If you're thinking of renting or buying this movie based solely on the presence of the word "cowboy" in the title, don't. It really has nothing whatsoever to do with being a cowboy. One of Danny's love interests happens to live and work on a ranch and you see a couple people ocassionally wearing cowboy hats, but that is the extent of it.

Keep the Faith, Baby (2002) Review

Keep the Faith, Baby (2002)

I had really waited for a movie on the great "Adam Clayton Powell" for years. When most politicians die there is a movie out on them right away....Not Powell, I had to wait for this one and it was worth waiting for. I followed the politics of Mr. Powel when I was quite young and was always impressed with his brillance and nerve to always speak out on things that lots of others were afraid to speak out on. I really enjoyed this movie and found the cast quite well assigned. If you have an historical section as a part of your collection, this is a must have. You won't find a whole lot of his actions and promotions in your average american history book. You'll need to put roles played by our folk in your own History Book. This is one of the chapters.

Mama Heidi Review

Mama Heidi
Average Reviews:

This fantastic documentary follows the ministry of Heidi and Roland Baker, missionaries in war torn Mozambique. This is a fantastic visual to the book by the Baker's entitled Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision Among the Poorest Children on Earth.
This video introduces the viewer to the tough reality of life in Mozambique and the struggles that the people and especially children face there every day. It follows them in their local medical facilities and out onto the streets, taking care of children by feeding, clothing and educating them so that today's orphans will be tomorrows leaders. It also tells the story of Rolland and Heidi, how they came to Mozambique and what they do there. Heidi says in the video that it would be too overwhelming for her to do what God has called her to do in that country, so God told her to "just love the one in front of you" and He would do the rest.
Not only is God's faithfulness glorified in this video, but it also inspires the viewer to compassion and Christ likeness. I really enjoyed this video and have shown it to many individuals and church groups. Iris ministries (The Baker's ministry name) continues to show the love of God in Mozambique to this day, maybe this video will inspire you and your church to visit or get involved in helping the poor and needy.

King of Kings (1961) Review

King of Kings (1961)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"King of Kings" was my favorite religious motion picture when growing up, and I believe it still is. When MGM first released it in 1961, movie critics irreverently dubbed it "I Was a Teenage Jesus", since the role of Christ was given to teen idol Jeffrey Hunter. In hindsight, it was an unfair appraisal. Unlike other actors who have played Jesus in the more sublime, "stained-glass" manner that appears to be the norm, Hunter's portrayal showed a very human, energetic Messiah whose divinity still could not be denied. Interestingly enough, "King of Kings" was directed by Nicholas Ray, who six years earlier had directed James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause". This time around, our "Rebel" has a well-defined Cause which places Him at odds with the religious and civil authorities of His day. The film's international supporting cast consists mainly of lesser-known character actors whose performances are mostly able. The great actor/filmmaker Orson Welles gives an uncredited performance as the film's narrator; curiously, the narration was written by science fiction author Ray Bradbury, who is also uncredited. The film's stirring music was composed by Miklos Rozsa, who was no stranger to religious epics (the soundtracks to "Quo Vadis?" and "Ben-Hur" stand out among his other works). Beautifully filmed in Spain, "King of Kings" is an intelligent and reverent profile of He who has been the Way, the Truth, and the Life to hundreds of millions for almost 2000 years. END

The life of Jesus Christ is powerfully chronicled in this intelligent, gripping epic starring JEFFREY HUNTER, ROBERT RYAN, RIP TORN and a cast of thousands. From the producer of the epic spectaculars El Cid and The Fall of the Roman Empire and the director of Rebel Without a Cause and 55 Days at Peking comes a vivid retelling of the world's greatest story.
