(More customer reviews)This movie just makes me smile. Wacky plot(?), the general low-budget 70s "we're having a good time" tone that is just absent from today's movies. The story is something about a werewolf, a yeti, cannibal vampire naked women. I never quite got the gist of it, but I sure enjoyed watching it.
Anyone know any stories about this movie, the production, the release, the status of the rights, etc.etc.?

An Erotic Werewolf in London (2006) Review

(More customer reviews)An Erotic Werewolf in London tells the story of a lesbian lycanthrope (Anoushka, Play-Mate of the Apes) -- do I need to mention that the film doesn't even bother to give us character names? -- who is seduced by a bartender (Misty Mundae, Spiderbabe). After some post-coital biting, the bartender now suffers from the werewolf curse. Meanwhile, our initial lycanthrope heads to London to tell her story to a British tabloid. This plot device allows for a lot of flashbacks involving werewolves and lesbians. Meanwhile, our bartender is ill from the effects of the bite and is tended by a number of naughty nurses. Eventually, Misty's werewolf turns and meets a tragic fate.
The previous paragraph makes the film sound a lot more coherent than it really is. In reality, the 68-minute film skips from lesbian scene to lesbian scene with a minimum of dialogue and narrative drive. The couplings themselves are above average for Seduction Cinema, with some real chemistry between the participants and no annoying interruptions from guys in gorilla suits. Those looking for wicked werewolves should go elsewhere, as this film sticks with a minimalist aesthetic. We're talking claws, fangs, and the barest wisps of hair to preserve the erotic half of the "erotic werewolf" equation.
Ostensibly, the film's star is Anoushka, although her silicone-enhanced assets are atypical for Seduction Cinema films. However, fans of Misty Mundae need not despair, for she commands almost as much screen time as Anoushka, and gets the better pairings of the two, including encounters with Ruby LaRocca, Darian Caine, and Julian Wells.
Shot on three different formats, the video is a predictably mixed bag. It doesn't look horrible by Seduction standards, but it won't win any awards. The best I can say about it is that there are no problems which make it difficult to make out the ladies. The audio is slightly worse, with a lot of variability in the quality and volume of the various effects and dialogue. But, since there wasn't much dialogue in the first place, it's hardly a huge complaint

Wilderness Review

(More customer reviews)This is marketed like a horror and sex fest. That's not exactly what it is. I saw it on tv when it was shown as a miniseries a few years back and I absolutely fell in love with it. If you like werewolf tales, I would definately recommend it. It's a high-quality production for British tv with good acting, and a good story. It reminds me a little of a 'Grim-brothers type fairytale', mysterious and romantic in an old fashioned kind of way. I had been cursing myself for not recording it when it was shown, and I had never even thought that it could be released on video. I was so happy and suprised when I found it here. I've ordered my copy immediately, and I can't wait to recieve it

Fox Horror Classics Collection (The Lodger / Hangover Square / The Undying Monster) (1944) Review

(More customer reviews)Three little known but effective horror films from a major hollywood studio complete this box set. Last year MGM released some of their little known horror films and now Fox has followed suite.
None of the these titles have been on DVD before, and even rarely on VHS. They occasionally showed up on the lackluster Fox Movie Channel a few years ago at odd hours of the early morning. It was on such an occasion that I encountered "The Lodger". This is a top notch effort which rests comfortably between the Gaslight thriller and the classic horror film. Cregar plays the villain with an off kilter, understated creepiness that was way ahead of it's time and could be called the screen's first serial killer performance.
The cinematography looks better and more atmospheric than what Universal was shoving out in the mid 40s'. Fog bound London streets and dimly gaslit interiors play with the viewers sense of claustrophobia. You almost feel as trapped by the heavy atmosphere as Cregar's character. Lodger is no doubt a lost classic of psychological horror.
I have to disagree with other reviewers that "Undying Monster" is the poor cousin of this set. "Hangover Square" feels more like a re-make of Lodger than a film of its own right. But Undying Monster takes us to the dark, atmospheric Sea coast. The sparse sets and jagged cliffs and caves work beautifully here. We have Jane Eyre meets Bram Stoker. A family curse is the plot engine to drive the lush monochrome cinematography. In fact Undying Monster boasts some of the best shots of the set, particularly the opening interior shot as the moon streams into a tudor drawing room. It looked great on the badly duped VHS copy I've had for years. On DVD it promises to be stunning. The titular Monster is not revealed until near the end, so forget about it and soak up the atmosphere. There is an interesting sequence near the end, all done in long shot as if you were a passerby. It's effective and helps cover the lack of make up talent Fox had for horror films.
These films were rarely seen even back in the days of Late Night Creature Features. Universal's films are better known, and MGM's more highly regarded by critics. But these lost Fox Horror films can now find an audience of their own and be appreciated for the loving cinematography.
If you're tired of the bad Hollywood "horror" films lately, which bear more resemblance to a series of snuff films rather than anything else, this box set is for you. Curl up on your couch with the DVD remote clutched in your hand. Be sure to darken the room, and quiet the mind. The intelligence and atmosphere of these gothic horrors will soon overcome the decades they have sat waiting in Fox's vault to return to the screen.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Single-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) (2010) Review

I usually try to stick with books (haha hence my name) I also tend not to see movies that were based on books, they are never right ie: Eragon, Blood and Chocolate and yes even the Harry Potters movies were missing tons of sides stories that were in the books. I saw Twilight the day it came out and was both relieved that it was so close to the book, and frustrated because like the book it lacked action. Only the last five minutes had any fighting. The same was true in New Moon, while it followed the book closely it was only the last 10 minutes where Edward fought with the Volturi that were action packed. I have to say I really liked Eclipse. I found that with all of Stepenie Meyer's books (especially Breaking Dawn) there was a huge build up towards the battle scenes, then it just fell apart. Yes it's for a younger age group, but sometimes a little more fighting and action is good. Eclipse delivered good action through out the movie, especially the 'big battle' I found myself wishing that the screen writers would have put this much effort into the first two with the action. David Slade, the director, also did Hard Candy (amazing movie) and 30 Days of Night. I think it was brilliant to bring him in on the project and hope he stays for Breaking Dawn.
I also am glad to say that Kristen Stewert has better facial expressions in this movie. She doesn't look like her face is frozen in only two expressions. Edward also delivers more side comments with good comedic timing. Jacob is hurt in this movie, but the interaction between all three is much less forced and more natural than the first two movies. It is without a doubt the best of the bunch. I won't bog down this review with the plot, because obviously 99% of the people going to Eclipse have read the book at least twice. I can say though that unlike the other two movies, I actually found myself wondering what happens next, and looking forward to how Bella and Edward (and yes Jacob) would react. I'd say if you've been on the fence about the other two movies go see this one, if you hated the first two movies, this one is infinitely better and if you loved the first two movies, I can only say you will love this one even more.
